Yesterday, for New Year's Day, it was cold outside, but still quite a lovely day, out here in McGregor--and both cats Gracie and Sundae were checking out what new beers will start off 2026 in our household: First, with Sundae, it's my sixth exemplar from Brouwerij Van Steenberge, of Evergem, Belgium--the 10.5% Piraat Triple Hop (2025 variant)... Next, with Sundae--it's my first brew from To Øl, of Svinninge, Denmark--their 8.7% #DIPA (this was 4.25/5, or 85%, for my tastebuds, to be sure)... More thoughts soon! Cheers, from McGregor! =)

Happy New Year! I’m taking a shot in the dark staring a new 2026 pet photo thread just because my indoor cat happened to be in my “What beer are you drinking now?” Photo. The beer is a New Belgium Trippel Ale. Here we have 16 year old “Baby Kitty” aside a ~25 year old miniature Christmas Tree sitting on the corner of the kitchen bar. Ironically all of the original incandescent light bulbs still work on this 25 year old tree that has been a faithful decorative piece over the years. This unlike the relatively new 3 year old LED Christmas lights I switched over to on the front of my house that partially failed this year. I was hoping to be done with burned out bulbs, but I guess not. Once again, Happy New Year!

Earlier today, The Responsible Beer Drinking Club did its first visit for 2026--this upcoming August will mark our 10-year anniversary. Penny is almost 2 and she’s past the puppy chewing, but she’s never met a pair of reading glasses that wasn’t delicious. Also she’s obsessed with her toys, especially her balls. Christmas she thinned out our Christmas decorations…. She’s our little one, we do supervise her 24/7
My pup is two this month. Mostly past the chewing stage, but will chew pens if left accessible. Those stain worse than reading glasses.
