Ahh, rosehips. Mikkeller had (has?) a great one. Don't see the brewery around here much anymore though unfortunately

That is a solid brew @Prager62 , i thoroughly enjoyed it when we visited the brewpub while staying up at a resort in Fraser during the Covid year of 2020. I remember my wife and i had to register our names when we walked into the taproom in case we were carriers:expressionless:. I still rock the WB&D shirt i picked up that day!

Cross post from the Pastry Stout is Life thread. Lots of drama on the stout threads this year ICYMI.

If you can't beat them, join them! I'm game for the PSIL thread as i have today's beer and several other future contributions in the fridge.

This one was an impulse buy as i found this at my local grocer while grocery shopping before Black Friday for a reasonable price of $21.97. I have stopped my black Friday BCBS variant chase the last two years, mainly because the BA stouts are much available, especially with Burial cranking out BA stouts consistently that are very good.

Yep, the Chocolate Praline Stout variant leans sweet and fits in with the style. Getting chocolate, vanilla, and nuts. Finishes with barrel heat but not enough barrel to balance the sweetness. I am getting cashews in post sip aspirations. Well blended, this is worthy of a shot.
    Cheers!
    Tom

Good day. 41 degrees here with lots of freezing/thawing/re-freezing so I'm out with the scraper shovel tryin' to clear some of it. At least the temp is comfortable. Garage Beer Lime is hittin' the spot.

Happy Wednesday BAs! Today I'm drinking a Lot 9 Pilsner from Creemore Springs Brewery. It's a decent domestic pils that I still return to once in a while. Cheers!

I can relate to your craving for spicy food. Most of the time I bring a bottle of Tabasco wherever I go
Vintage glass too (Late 1970's I guess).
    Cheers!

    1) Kostritzer Schwarzbier (4.8%): A German Schwarzbier with flavors of dark malt, cocoa, some roast.
    versus
    2) Fair State Black Pils (4.9%): A German Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark grains, bittersweet cocoa and earthy notes. Bitter and roasted. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Dark Lager Battle. First Kostritzer Schwarzbier. A classic German Schwarzbier and incredibly easy drinking.
Next Fair State Black Pils. A bit more dark, roasty and bitter. Amazing release from Fair State and hope to see this again next year.
    Winner: Fair State Black Pils

Clear, golden pour and body; nice carbonation; thick head, white, densely sudsy, sculpted and long-lasting. Decent spicy hop aroma.faintly dank. Good flavor; solid malt base, biscuit-like notes; herbal, peppery hop taste; a hint of star anise. Medium-heavy mouthfeel; velvety with a lightly sticky feel; semi-dry overall.

A decent edition of the Project Dank experimental India pale ale series but lacking a bit of punch and pizazz.

Short bursts of chipping with an equal amt of time allotted for another Garage Beer Lime. Very crushable. Even more divine in a hotel chalice.:beers:

What a day - a little bit of everything weather wise. Freezing rain overnight and this morning created an icy glaze, then it turned to snow for a bit and then back to rain and now the sun is finally out. Having a pilsner ..

As that song was written by a Ukrainian, one of them singing it in the original language (which isn't Russian) might have been more appropriate. Good song either way though.

Wow! How did you find 17 beers from Halo? I can't get any in Guelph. I had to go to the brewery to get any.

Good afternoon BAs! Took yesterday off as a cleanse day, and arrived at our Florida home last evening. Spent today, among other chores, taking down and boxing up all the outdoor and indoor Christmas decorations. I’m on the couch now with an Aleve and a Creature Comforts’ Tropicalia IPA:

    1) BlackStack Honeymoon Phase (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from Minnesota with Mosaic and Krush for flavors of bright pink grapefruit, orange, pineapple, dank pine and stonefruit.
    versus
    2) Mortalis Yakima Blend (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe for flavors of orange, grapefruit rind, smooth peach. (Correctly matched the two blind)

BlackStack versus Mortalis IPA Battle. Both breweries with some fresh hops. First is BlackStack Honeymoon Phase with some fresh hops of Mosaic and Krush. Soem bright and dank piney, citrus rind notes here. This has grown on me and my last one sadly.
Next is Mortalis Yakima Blend. Similar flavors overall, but less pine and more pineapple.
I am enjoying these two breweries and they make quite similar IPAs overall I've noticed in terms of body and hop flavors. Both of these are solid, but this Mortalis blend is standing above the rest.
    Winner: Mortalis Yakima Blend
