Who’s offering direct to consumer shipping to out of state customers in 2026? Unfortunately it seems that a lot of CA brewers ship, but only within California — looking at you, Russian River! I recently found out Other Half ships Who else? Bonus points any shipping to AZ
Off the top of my head: Notch, The Bruery, Hi-Wire, Burial Cycle used to, not sure if they plan to bring that back or not
Damm.. OH has expanded quite a bit. Last time I ordered from them was about 2 years ago and they were only shipping to about 12-15 States at that time.
West Sixth: https://www.westsixthonlinestore.com/collections/beer ill will ships to OH and PA direct, other places via one of the beer apps. Trillium ships as well.
Couple random ones I noticed online. Parish Brewing **We ship to the following states ONLY: Alaska, D.C., Kentucky, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Vermont, Virginia. https://shop.parishbeer.com/shipping-details/ Great Notion Brewing We are currently shipping beer in the states of Oregon, Washington, Kentucky, Virginia, Washington DC, New Hampshire, Vermont, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, and Ohio, as well as to Anchorage, Alaska. https://greatnotion.com/pages/shipping
Sierra Nevada ships to a number of state but unfortunately for the OP not to AZ: “CA, DC, KY, NC, ND, NE, NH, OH, PA, VA, & VT” https://sierranevada.com/shop/beer Cheers!
To dash the hopes of anyone distant who wants Michigan beers - no Michigan brewery can ship beer in-state or out of state because it violates state regulations. You can order beer gear from many breweries, but no beer.
Their website is down and their last FB post was in June. Prior to that, there's a post about selling off the last of their bottles.
None to TX bc of our stupidly outdated blue-laws that stick around bc of wine/liquor lobbies. but I digress.
I don't like the idea of shipping, or even trading, philosophically. I really like going to a new place and getting to try beers that I can't get and thinking about what a brewery that is new to me is doing is doing better or worse than the breweries that I can get. If you can get any beer at a price, how special is it? I don't trade, and I only purchase in person, at bars, breweries, or stores that are in my physical area. Being there, in the moment, is a huge part of why I like any beer. Being able to purchase anything online somehow seems to cheapen it. Trading at least means that you've made a personal relationship with someone else. Even though I don't trade, up with trading, down with shipping.
Hair of the Dog ships with their remaining inventory. Not a brewery, however Halftime ships to Arizona
John, is the freshness aspect a consideration for you as well? I have yet to have beer shipped to me but the cynic in me is concerned about how fresh the beers shipped to me would be. It seem that if the retailer had some less than fresh product on hand that shipping those old(er) cans/bottles would be an optimum business practice. I would be less concerned about this from a direct brewery sale as compared to ordering beer from a retailer such as Half Time. On a related note, during Covid some of my local beer retailers (e.g., Retail Beer Distributors) provided a service where you could order your beer and they would come out and load those beers into the trunk of your car (i.e., a contactless purchase). I personally refused to do this but instead put on a mask and go inside to select the beers I purchased to ensure a fresh purchase. Cheers!
Halftime will give you the canning dates of the beers you're interested in before purchasing online. Same with Bine & Vine. Treehouse in Boston(Prudential Center) has a similar service were you order online, drive up to a designated area in the garage and they load the goods. Ordering online is fun and convenient but hauling back beer from a brewery/city is a preferred experience for me. Trading is awesome as well.
Dang that's crazy. Google says the taproom is closed but they are still brewing beer at their warehouse location. But could be a winding down
Ain't me, Jack. And as much as I love the Philly term "Jawn", that's for referring to a thing, not a person. In regards to freshness, it's not something that really even enters the equation for for me. I just like being able to experience things that I otherwise wouldn't be able to if I wasn't physically there. Being able to get anything for a price just seems to cheapen the experience for me. Trading at least means that I've built a relationship around trust with some other beer drinker. There was a time when I did a lot of in-person trades, and it was kinda fun, until it wasn't (a trading partner asked why I didn't seek a particular thing out in Michigan when I had traveled there for a funeral). Maybe it was just all the autistic spectrum dudes that were in the beer scene in DC a decade ago. I made regular trips to MI to see the in-laws, Philly to see friends, and VT for work. They all wanted more and didn't realize that the trips were for other reasons, not for me to bring back beer they couldn't get to receive second-hand trades from them that they got from trading with someone out west. The folks I dealt with in those locales were far more appreciative, but then again, we were friends beyond beer, not because of beer. Make connections with people you like, and they'll share what they've got with you. The only time I've had Westy 12 is because the Belgian ambassador's son gifted a bottle to one of my best friends. That's way cooler than paying for shipping costs.
