1 Millionth Beer

+7 just now, 2 of which I drank (Review & pics as I have time. )

 

If the first post in this thread is accurate, it appears to be the last number in the URL of each beer page. As of a couple minutes ago it looks like 777,308.

 

So we've added 35,000+ in a bit over a week? That's 3.5% of our goal!

 

You're gonna have to do some more mathin' if we've added 35,000 in a week.

I have to think about this, and my coffee hasn't kicked in yet. Something in your number doesn't seem right, though. I'll have to get back to you later.

 

I have 682355 in the first post's URL. Don't know why your number differs from mine, but it sounds like faulty logic that's sending us down the wrong path.

 

Unless Todd says otherwise, that's faulty logic and the 35,000+ can't be correct. I wish it were true, but I'm thinking the numbers are faulty.

 

I've added a few this morning, and that number does go up with each brewski added.

 

Go add a beer. Don't look at the first 6 digits, after you add it, look at the 2nd set of 6 digits. Then add another beer. That 2nd set goes up each time.

 

For example, I just added this beer: beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/65973/777429/ . See that 777429? Now, I'll go add another.... (walks away)

(walks back)..... here's the next one: beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/65973/777430/ . See how it went from 429 to 430? I think that's what @shelby415 is pointing at as the number of beers. I'm tending to agree, but we'll await confirmation.

 

I was just going off what the original post was suggesting. Todd both liked the post and has since responded without refuting the idea, so I'm assuming it's true...but yes. Until we know it's just an assumption.

 

Also, we're forgetting about deleted beers. Todd's number in post 14 (I think it was) was different than the URL by about 33K beers

 

Let's try that math again folks...

We've added about 2k beers since the thread opened, likely less as we only have "775,000+" to go on in the first post and that could have been rounding down from 776k. With Todd's elimination of deleted entries, that brings us to about 743k beers in the DB. A ways to go still.

 

Maybe I'll have the time this evening, but otherwise tomorrow.

 

Okay, I was looking at the wrong URL number. It looks like I have to look at the URL of a beer just posted, which makes more sense, and I was looking at the URL of the first post in this thread which is likely the thread number since (when ?).

 

All the ones I added yesterday are 777,000 + , so that seems correct.
Just checked my last one before this, added 9/28/25. It's 764,005.
That's quite an uptick in additions lately. Holiday season?

 

I have been trying a bunch of local brews not added yet by users and/or the breweries themselves so we will hopefully get there in no time go beer discovery

 

The first number in the URL is the brewery, BTW.
