Glad I inspired your beer yesterday, but also agree with your assessment @UWDAWG Deth's Tar > Vanilla Deth. It's the case for the majority of variants vs. original versions, at least for me.

Planning out beers for Cellaruary, ones I featured last year or ones I have two of to split between the Cellar Review and Cellaruary threads. This is the first of two with details in the 2026 Cellar Review Thread. A bit aged and degraded with the same Willettized experience of heavy rye whiskey and minimal coffee base.

It's disappointing that this was the only option. I know it's a very first world problem but not having a local brew at the lounge is kinda BS.

Breakfast beer . . .

Urban South Po-Boy Red Lager

Apearance of dark Amber gold with modest white cap.

Scent of rich, caramely malt with a nutty undertone. Really inviting scent.

Taste on entry is caramel malt forward with a noticable but subdued nuttiness riding under the malt. Hops are there as a balancing act supporting the main players. Rich and mellow, I could pour this stuff over breakfast cereal.

Medium to full texture with well balanced carbonation.
Altogether, this one's a winner.

I'm sipping on this "Imperial Cream Stout" from Transient Artisan Ales out of Bridgman Michigan. Very nice.

Today's New Breakfast Beer, re-released by Flying Fish after 7+ years:



Exit 13 from Flying Fish Brewing. 16 fl oz can from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Picked up 10/01/26, in reefer at distributor. $ 4.25 (including tax) ($ 0.172/fl oz). Reviewed 16/01/26, review 3673.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated can) Uncredited label art. Just another stout, certainly unremarkable. One and done.
Rating 3.79, rDev -2.1%

The one I'd liked to have reissued is Exit 5.

Good morning BAs! Kicking off the new beer weekend early with one of my recent Tavour beer hauls - Other Half’s “Spinach”:



Another easy drinking, clean hazy lite from OH with bright citrus/tropical fruit flavors. This brewery has, imo, been producing Treehouse quality IPAs for awhile now.

Cold (for here) sunny 50s kinda day. We have contractors coming all afternoon to explore addition remodeling vs. adding a roofed screened patio room. I think I’ll stay inside meanwhile where it’s warm and drink beer. Cheers and have a fun Friday y’all!

Another one of the specialty beers I got yesterday, 10.5%, just under 4€, and importantly, in the ingredient list, 0.1% chili powder! This is spicy! Both in scent and flavor, and makes your lips burn from both the alcohol and flavor. Very good stuff, I am already a fan of this. Has a nice reddish tint when held up to the light as well. Check it out if you come across it.
