I was never a big fan of triple IPAs. Thought the sweet spot was the double IPAs in terms of taste and ABV.

That last one went down fast with dinner. Time for the closer tonight.

100% Mike. Me either , They are way to sweet and thick most times . I bought this by mistake when North Park came in with a drop and picked up all 4 of the brews on the week. I will suffer thru thou.:slight_smile:

Hell yeah, but also unfortunately yeah - even for me. It's on the shelves now, which is the problem, since it doesn't move. It's not rare to find it >1 year. What a shift.

Also, G-Bot holds up pretty well, but not as well as some other IPAs. I find that after 3 months, especially if you don't know how it's been stored and handled, you're rolling the dice, for sure.

Still a world class IIPA. :grinning:

Hey BAs, enjoying a 2025 BCBS, sans pic.

I've been mostly away, partly due to a 3-month assignment away from home with ~70 hour work weeks, and now today .... due to a scooter accident where I bruised my ribs and either broke, or aggravated a pre-existing fracture in, my wrist. (Don't ask me how I didn't already know I had a chunk of free-floating bone from a broken wrist. You'd think that's the sort of thing I would have already known.)

So, I'm a bit on the down-low. I'm here, lurking and liking, clearing mod reports when I can, but posting very little.

    Cheers, all!

We will inform Lawsons so they temporarily cut back on Sip of Sunshine production until you’re back home. Rest up and stay the hell off of scooters. Those things clearly were underwritten by the orthopedic surgeon lobby.

Absolutely! Don’t waste beer if you can avoid it. Occasionally, I may buy a single can of a triple IPA but it has been a while since I bought a four pack. And then it was a local brewery.

Bad weather is in the forecast here. I stocked up on some more brews. Which reminds me I should post it on the haul thread.

Drink well my friend. Stay safe.

At my favorite Vietnamese beer bar in Houston...that is Hughies.

    A tale of two Hefes...

First up is Live Oak, and an all time Texas classic. This is also as fresh as I have had this in a LONG time, and it fantastic, and only $4

Second Hefe is the Wltenburger Helle Weibe

I like it. and very classic, but the Live Oak is more expressive. Its probably more a function of the Live Oak being uber fresh, and this being a much older keg.

Oh baby, this is the one if you’re looking for a high octane intense barrel aged stout!

Aged for a year in Dickel bourbon barrels.

Appearance is deep dark mahogany black. No head or lacing at all.

One whiff tells you This Is The One. Rich, heady Russian Imperial Stout aroma. Some alcohol as would be expected for 13.5%.

Taste is out of this world! Complex, dark fruits, molasses, heavy in a good way, borderline syrupy but not at all cloying.

Rich mouthfeel, tingles (it’s that 13.5% talking), lingering wonderful aftertaste.

Overall this is the perfect cold night winter stout. A great after dinner drink. Sweet but not overly so, less than a ‘dessert’ stout. It’s amazing…

Can't leave Hughie's without great Vietnamese food...

Still the Wltenburger Hefe...and a shaking shrimp with extra spicy fried rice. This is great.

    Oh, and it is Tuesday...so that means a stop off a Johnny's Gold Brick for...whats that..oh yeah...A $2 Old Fashioned :sunglasses::beers:

And have just about 50 pages left to go on this huge Karl Ove Knausgaard novel, that I'm absolutely loving.
