What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4842

1) Mortalis Tethys (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Galaxy, and Nelson for flavors of orange, berries, pineapple, tropical grapes and stonefruit.
versus
2) Mortalis Yakima Blend (8.0% no canning date): A NEIPA from NY with Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe for flavors of orange, grapefruit rind, smooth peach. (Correctly matched the two blind... barely)

Mortalis IPA Battle. First is Tethys, my last of these and one of the best IPAs I've had in 2025. Amazing Citra, Galaxy, Nelson combo. Tons of tropical melon juice, berries, and grape flavors.
Next is Yakima Blend, very similar, but distinctively more pine, grapefruit, and pineapple from the Simcoe. It's also a bit more fresh, but both of these are aging a bit. Still holding up extremely well and both probably in my top 10 IPAs for 2025. If Mortalis consistently makes IPAs this good, could easily become in my top 3 breweries in the Northeast. I don't remember how we got distro of these in the Midwest, but both of these are magical.

Howdy BAs and happy Hump Day! We are due a rare snow/ice storm this weekend. Good time to stock up on some Allagash Curieux Barrel Aged Golden Ale 10.2%. Fantastic beer and one of my favorites in the barrel aged category. Flavors are spicy, oak, and vanilla. Not often you can get the vanilla note in a pale ale but its there. The oak is the perfect compliment without being the feature. Hardly notice the ABV until that nice warming sensation takes over once you reach the after taste. Remarkably consistent, first class beer. That's our finally completed hardwood floors in the master bedroom providing the background. Cheers!

Stone IPA (6.9% canned 9/8/25): A West-Coast IPA from California with flavors of lemon, grapefruit, and bitter pine. Bitter pine lingers with a clean finish.


Shoveled the drive. Then it started snowing again, oh well. Cozying in watching the snow and enjoying an outdated Stone. How does an outdated Stone fare? Still iney, resinous, and bitter. Like an excellent WCIPA.

 

Yes Sir, me and about 20 of my homies drink the IPA and the IIPA on the reg, 21.99 a 12 pack best value in the beer game right now. This if the first time I saw this one though.

 

Seven hops used in this wonderful creation. Pure wizardry. A nice tone setter for tonight’s lineup. Cheers
