A new year, a new thread for IMO the best brewery in Los Angeles!

I'm excited for another Brunch Friends coming up but it falls no Valentine's Day this year which is less than optimal. My buddy who I always get a ticket for probably isn't going this year as a result. Wonder what this year's food options will be. I kinda miss the buffet they had awhile back but I understand moving over to one given item per ticket with other food being purchased separately. The sausages from the year with the buffet were so good though.

I'm looking for a brunch ticket. Was a bottle friend for 4 years but not this year. I have some good bottles to share.

Very sharp increase to the Bottle Friends renewal. Last year was about $180 and this year it's $325 with the option to be a quarterly member (which doesn't have guaranteed entry to the brunch).

I thought the same but after going over how much often I purchase extra bottles and non-included bottles. For instance, I always max out on Luxury, Coconut Tree, Infinitefinite and their barley wines. It pretty much evens out on my end price per bottle.

Maybe they're just trying to push more non-member exclusive bottles.

    • Yearly members are guaranteed an invite
    • Quarterly members receive priority based on the number of quarters subscribed, as space allows

Ah I see, I assumed you were thinking about the yearly since you mentioned the $325 price.

$179 last year for 6 included bottles, which is $29.90/bottle. $325 yearly this year for 12 included bottles, which is $27.08/bottle.

Better price per bottle this year, but you have to commit to more bottles. I definitely maxed on extra Luxury, Coconut Tree, Infinite, and Griffith, so I'm sure I hit the 3 or 4 bottle every quarter anyway. I also like being able to trade a new bottle for an archive bottle.

I want to attend beer friends brunch but I will need to stay in a hotel that is very expensive due to it being Valentines Day.

Why should I pull the trigger?

$70 as opposed to $40 last year?

    Nope.

    Leichtbier Light Pilsner from HP

Pleasant malty aroma with a hint of orange peel. Very light body but lively on the tongue. This is not at all sweet and there is a slight astringency in the finish. Faint flavors of artichoke and green beans with crackers. Overall it is easy to toss down but I'd rather have a light Helles or American Lager with a slight kiss of hops.

The brunch this year was $70. However, last year it was $65, not $40.

My wife pointed out it is genius of Highland Park to have people pay them $70 to drink our own beers and beers shared from other customers. It was at that point I focused only on drinking what was on tap, because she was right.

Your wife's point is valid but it's still a deal. Who wouldn't want to spend $70 for bottomles beers, brewery and guest taps.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe last year they didn't have guest taps.

Brunch Friends has always had guest taps and usually some HPB beers made specifically for the event. They usually keep them on tap after the event if they haven’t kicked so the general public can come in and buy a pour if they arrive early enough.

I’m definitely one of the people who tries to get my money’s worth with what’s on tap although the lines can get pretty annoying at times. When that happens I focus more on the guest beers.

It's a Bottle Share playah. And you only have so much ABV to go around.

I saw this as an opportunity to buy a 70 dollar burrito and sadly declined.

Overpricedwrought even in these financial times of woe.
