    Thanks for that.....much appreciated....

I think deaths in a family can get easier with time - just depends on the circumstances, and where you are in your own life journey.....
I had a harder time with the death of my older brother in 2005 at age 49 (suicide by handgun to the head), than my Dad passing at 57 of incidious colo-rectal cancer....both were difficult to come to terms with, but time passing does soften things a bit.....as does a great beer consumed in their memory, along with a nice dram of scotch or bourbon.....
Cheers, and sorry for your loss of your father as well! And get some outside help with the depression if you need it.....no shame there at all....hang in there!

I’ll drink to my dad! He died when I was 18 at 59 …my age now. It’s really a mind fuck to think he died at this age. I’m old and fat and could/should take better care of myself, but do I think I’m ready to die? Mentally, definitely not, but I do need to get serious getting less fat and more active.

Suicide sucks. I used to work inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric wards in my early career and to see kids think suicide was the way through was terrible. Their stories were often tragic, that would crush anyone. My advice to them was usually the same: hold out and defy that route as long as you can. You’ll get dead eventually. We all will. Don’t let the shitty people and circumstances win. Living well is the biggest fuck you to those that wish you ill or do you harm.

I looked but did not see a What Beer Are You Drinking With Your Clams Now thread. I haven’t had clams in quite a while. Damn. Now I want clams. Legit. Gah! Shrimp are not the same.

HopSlam is a worthy yellow beer! Distro here has been on the terrible side, but absence makes the heart grow fonder.

...did get to see him live in Dinkelsbuhl, West Germany in the late 80s (with my friend Tom and his wife)...the only other band I recall was Big Country...plenty of other bands played, but, I seemed to have been under the influence of a lot of beer, so my memory of that time is pretty well shot :stuck_out_tongue:...

...actually, here we go with the other bands: https://www.setlist.fm/festival/1989/out-in-the-green-1989-dinkelsbuhl-2bd6205a.html

...I recall Herbert Grönemeyer from his role in one of the great submarine movies 'Das Boot'...

OK. OK. What is going on here? Greenland now ALSO has Russian River on draft? Fine. I’ll go to Greenland. The wife might like that. She wants to visit Iceland. That’s close.

Yes, I am finding myself slightly annoying. I’ve been away from the virtual bar a bit and now I’m chiming in. :grimacing:

A pallet of it at 12.99 at Total Wine in Indy made me fonder. I would have been one and done at 16.99 locally...

“Easier.” Probably no, because what’s the saying, grief is the price of love? In my weak ass quasi Buddhist frame of mind, this whole place is a testing ground, where the challenges are intentional for us to learn and evolve. If we figure it out over time, samsara ends when we’ve self-actualized. The loss is an opportunity to remember that it’s all temporary, so live fully in your authentic self. $0.02 from a fat old beer advocate. :heavymetal:

So glad I grabbed a couple of 4 packs of this. You could do a lot worse when it comes to pastry stouts.
