I will say RL is a far closer attempt at matching Pear Brandy Leto than I was expecting

 

RL Persona was seriously great. They were running out of on site bottles, from what I was told. Glad I got to grab a bottle. Well worth it.

 

Anabasis 7....That's the only one I didn't care for in the Anabasis series

However, in the time it took for me to type that it sold out. So somebody really likes it, LOL

 

LOL. I asked last night if they held any back for the rest of the week and I was told no. They said there was a lot of beer loss in this brew so the yield was low. To no surprise, 100 lb per barrel of cookies hurts yield.


All that said, I’m sure they held some back for LC.

Who is buying this?? I could get 12 cans of Straight Jacket and ship it to my doorstep for that price. I understand when people wanna splurge for something unique and the potential of it being a beer that blows your mind but Anabasis is just an above average barrel aged barleywine now. The industry has caught up and there is an Anabasis quality barleywine released every week or two

 

Straight jacket is the best value out there. $25 for a 4 pack. Can’t beat it.

 

Can we talk about the fact that it was batch 7 also....not vintage in the least bit. That's literally only one batch back.

All jokes aside. I’m barleywine for life and I think Anabasis is special. Do I prefer VSOJ… um yeah and the price. VSOJ is once every few
years and I don’t think SJ is better than Anabasis. But the SP BW program sleighs. MJK is maybe best BW on market… and Anabasis is just a staple that personally I love. I’ll be quiet now.

I'm like the only guy on this forum who hasn't have MJK yet. But I hear the 10yr BW compares to it and that's the best BW I've ever had.

 

I'm assuming we're talking about MJK B1 - 10 year BW was better than MJK B2.

 

10yr BW uses the exact same juice as MJKb1, just aged longer and blended differently

 

You're not alone in this homie, never had it either. 10 Year is easily the best barleywine I have had from SP though.
