I rated this quite high. Not that I was really high when I rated it, but rather it rcv'd a solid high rating from moi. :sunglasses:
    Junkyard Country Toad HIPA
This is a NE IPA all the way. Upon pouring I got the aroma of fresh peeled orange 2 ft away from the pour. Fabulous appearance, wicked smooth and the taste...? Sublime citrus. Outstanding. Maybe world-class. Get some.
and thank you @Todd for extending the NBW thread! :beers::beers:

Still on page 8? Oh my. Have to see if I can help us get to 9. (Three a day isn’t too bad lately)
This one is another old one that never got to my cellar; I bought it today. That is right, I bought a 5 year old BA Imperial Stout. And I enjoyed it.

The pour is stout black with a light brown head that leaves sparse lacing. The fact it has a head or lacing is pretty good for the ABV.
The taste is everything I could imagine if a stout tried to represent a latte, which I always take at least one extra shot of espresso in. There is the coffee, the vanilla, the lactose (lots of lactose) and a little chocolate to round out the flavor profile. It’s sweet, but not overly so. It’s actually a really well made imperial stout.
The feel is viscous, this almost demands to be savored. Which I did.
OA, glad to have tried this and if they make it again I will buy it again for my SAN group.

I know some distributors pass on old ones and some bottle shops put them out at normal prices and they often languish there.
This one was actually marked down quite a bit, why I’m not sure but I took a chance on it and was pleasantly surprised.
I know I should refuse to buy old ones, just to not support the practice, but I am weak so I caved.
Oh well. It was a treat and I enjoyed it. Cheers!

Deep Cut IPA from Wren House in Arizona

Flavor is rich and fruity but not excessively bitter. The hop flavors run more to fruit and just some lime and lemon peel in the aftertaste. Moderate sweetness, but quite tasty with all the melon and mango. Some peppery notes in the finish. Overall this is a better than average hoppy brew I"m glad to have tried. Makes me look forward to trying the new crop of Pizza Port IPAs.

River City Brewing's 2024 Rob's Warm & Chewy ( Exquisite Imperial Stout ) Stout with Chocolate, Vanilla Beans & Molasses, 14% ABV; 4.07 overall

Pours thick as 20K+ miles motor oil with minimal head retention. Zero head retention & lacing, super viscous & traces of sticky sugar residuals cling to the glass

S: Serious booze, chocolate, vanilla. Nose calms down once warmer

T: Follows the nose, plenty of Molasses, imparting plenty of dryness, a touch of caramel, booze is less strident on the tastebuds & some pipe tobacco up front. Rough dark rum/molasses notes, oaky notes, Baker's Chocolate, woody hop bitterness, some coconut notes as well once this beer is warm. Chocolate doughnuts ring through as this beer finishes, some dark cherry, leafy hops & brown sugar there as well

MF: Beyond chewy. super low carbonation, plenty warming. Carbonation picks up a bit once warm

A chewy/challenging monster of an Imperial Pastry Stout

    Greetings, fellow NBWers,

Been a while for me to join y'all. I took a month off from alcohol consumption last fall and have since been attempting to drink less. I'm more successful at that during normal weekdays due to the hours I work these days. However, today is a holiday, so I'm stepping up to the plate.

Today I hit a Belgian Quad brewed in Oregon:
Pretty good stuff from Block 15, but it won't displace the quads from Westvleteren or St Bernardus at the top of my list of the style. It has some pretty good flavor but it's a tad too boozy, and it doesn't quite get that elusive Belgian mouth feel right. Still, I could hit it again without too much apprehension, although it's price is too dear for anything like regular purchasing.
