Made some extra scratch, now I am ready to sip some beers and smoke some herb. Good afternoon BAs.

 

I want to see more Maibock this spring!

 

Wow! Beer looks/sounds great! And paired perfectly with the music

 

An afternoon delight, on a windy rainy day!

 

Having a Berkshire Driscoll's Nitro Dry Irish Stout. Tastes good but didn't behave like I'd expect a nitro stout to behave. There was no cascading or creamy denseness.

 

And then again, we can discuss about taste, but even if Gouden Carolus would taste like shit, it should still ave higher ratings than your nr. 1.
That is almost like sex. A more luscious beer? Post it. I can maybe compromise Carolus in more explicit poses..
A tripel, tasetwise bit more a competitor with the Karmeliet, maybe too floral for most, but look at the body. At least it shows signs of the brewers skils in terms of carbonation, head and retention.
You can discuss about taste .
But at least it is very well brewed.

 

Happy Saturday ba. Just kicking my weekend off after a decently early work day. Nice to see temps rising and spring a coming. Gonna relax w/ food, brews, and mindless wbc.

Same start as yesterday. Power of 2, ddh dipa (galaxy, citra, mosaic, nelson, simcoe), Sand City. Crazy good- will be buying and popping as long as the supply lasts,

 

Hi beer friends!
Enjoying a Spotted Octopus Czech Lager at Stone's Countryside Tavern in Churchville. This is a great little out of the way place that is nice and quiet on weekend afternoons. People are just starting to trickle in now so I will be leaving after this beer. Just had a yummy mushroom swiss burger. Temp is currently 71 degrees F. The beautiful frozen Great Lakes region is finally thawing out!
The surging Buffalo Sabres play today, puck drop at 5:30pm eastern. Tell your friends.
Expect some drunken updates from home while I am watching the game.

Opening weekend for 2nd Division American Soccer. Come on You Rowdies!!

 

Good Saturday afternoon, BA's. It's another gloomy, raw day here in North Jerseyland. I've started a regimen of increased power walking to burn calories. This morning I extended my normal walk to almost 3 miles. Sadly, I also cut out my traditional Saturday breakfast of corned beef hash, eggs, and home fries. Oh, the things I have to do in order to continue drinking good beer! Speaking of which, this is Tarragon Tripel from Rushing Duck. It's brewed with tarragon seed which gives it a musty, earthy, herbaceous flavor. I like it. Cheers!

 

1) Little Thistle Mist & Shadow (4.5%): A Czech Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark graine, earthy, and roast. Clean and dry.
versus
2) Little Thistle Schwarzenlager (5.0%): A German Schwarzbier from Minnesota with flavors of cocoa, roast, and dark malts. (Mismatched the two blind)

Little Thistle Dark Lager Battle: Czech dark versus Schwarzbier. First Mist & Shadow, their Czech dark lager. Dark chocolate, espresso, and roasty. Bitter and roasted off the end. More robust for a Czech dark.
Next is their Schwarzenlager. A bit newer. This won bronze at the GABF for the Schwarzbier style. More muted roast, but more earthy and dark fruit and chocolate sweet undertones. Milder, but more complex and refined. Excellent dark lager here. Little Thistle upped their game with this one.
Winner: Little Thistle Schwarzenlager
