Stopped by everywhere this morning at opening. I needed to be at GC SB before noon. Ordered half pour of west coast must be the feeling & 4pk of trophy tacos, OH collaboration. They were out. I asked for a crowler. Sure. $23. Huh! No thx. FYI, according to the lady who helped me all crowler fills are same price as 4pk. WTF? Did something happen overnight that crowlers cost the same as 4pks? That beats $28 for a 4pk of Hop Fu.

Stopped in at Hi-time Costa Mesa last night and picked up a few singles. One of them was this.

At first glance the can doesn't resemble anything else that I've seen from this brewery.

Then came the taste test, and what really surprised me was that it also didn't taste like anything I can remember from this brewery. Normally I could do a blind taste test and pick this brewery's beers out 9 out of 10 (maybe even 10 out of 10) times. Not this one.

    The beer: West Ghost

    The brewery: Sierra Nevada

The verdict: It's a solid west coast IPA, one that I'd buy again.

The single can was $4 and change (I think something like $4.49), but I see on the SN website that they sell it in 8 packs ... for $50! Nice beer, but not $50 an 8 pack nice.

Yup. It’s $25 for a 4pk each. That seems very high for Sierra Nevada. Idk but I haven’t purchased anything SN in a long time. You’re getting into North Park, Monks and most other high end brewery price range. What’s going on here?

Is that $25 maybe including shipping for the West Coast Ghost? I picked some up at Chico a few weeks back and I know it wasn’t $20+, because I wouldn’t have bought it at that price.

It certainly was a good modern WCIPA, but in all honesty I still prefer (fresh) Torpedo.
