Does anyone have any inside info on the dates for this year’s Asheville Beer Week? I’m heading down in May and have been researching breweries, wineries and restaurants. There seems to be quite a lot of good places to choose from, anyone care to share any ‘do not miss places.’ Much appreciated!
Looks like there's an app for AVL Beer Week this year. Downloading that would be a good place to start As far as "can't miss," it depends on what you like For IPAs and Stouts, Burial is definitely can't miss If Lagers and/or Mixed Culture beers are more your bag, you gotta head to Zillicoah. They're still recovering from being affected by Helene, so there may be a few guest taps while they regain their inventory. While you're up on the north end, you can go an extra few miles to Weaverville and hit Zebulon. Mike does everything well, especially more traditional styles. The Taproom is only open on the weekend though. If you can find the time, Sierra Nevada is a must simply because the facility is beautiful, the food is great and of course the beer is more than solid. It can get crowded during prime time though, so I recommend getting there outside of the lunch/dinner rushes If you're driving, you should go to Appalachian Vintner in Biltmore Village and stock up on goodies to bring back with you. If you're flying, don't go, you'll be too tempted. Let me know if you want food recs too
Thanks so much, guys! I would also love some food recommendations! We have a car and will be in the area for a week. Thanks again!
I will mostly defer to the locals, but I did a similar trip (from Mass) last summer. Such a cool city and beautiful area. If you go to the South Slope Burial, I would 100% recommend Good Hot Fish. It's a laid back counter-service place, but so so good. https://www.goodhotfish.com/
I just spent some time in Asheville and hit up quite a few breweries: Hillman Beer Old Fort Highland Brewing Co Twin Leaf Brewery Burial Beer Co Green Man Brewery One World Brewing Salt Face Mule Brewing Co Zillicoah Diatribe Brewing Co I’ve been to most all of them in the area.
I wish I could have ate there but they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Keep in mind there are some breweries and eateries that are closed those two days.
I'll second @dbrauneis on Cellarest. They are doing some wonderful things with barrel fermented lagers. I'd also recommend Hillman Beer Co.
Take a day trip to Pisgah National Forest via the Blue Ridge Parkway and stop at Griffon and Sphynx Brewery afterwards in Brevard. Wayne Wamble and his wife own it and he brews 100% of the beer. He was the longtime former head brewer at Cigar City. You can combine with Burning Blush on the way back to Asheville.
Asheville Beer Week for 2026 is May 15-29. I’ll be there from May 9-16, so at least I’ll have a few days there during Beer Week.
