Pulling a bottle today, this one my last of this beer. I rather have a bottled date than a ridiculous best by date. I miss Larry Bell's Bell's.

Bell's Expedition Stout (Best by February 2, 2053).

Goodnight to me and @ChicagoJ, and good morning to the rest of you BA friends!

Midnight Silk Black Lager from Cellarmaker Brewing in the Bay Area.
Interesting aroma of grapes and scorched grain. Overall this is sweet and charred tasting. Substantial body and quite malty, but all dark. Even the caramel taste is burnt, but then there is some flavor of dark grapes. Tastes like an imperial stout cut with bargain wine. Aftertaste is quite bitter, and not like chocolate. This is so thick in the mouth. Well, maybe it's an acquired taste!

Day off work today, which is a good thing. The apartment is getting sprayed for roaches tomorrow. We never had this problem here till the last 3 years. It is a pain in the rear to get everything out of the kitchen and bathroom to prepare. Annoying as hell. Time for a beer before I finish up the kitchen.

Good day BAs! Thanks @ChicagoJ for keeping the bar open! And I agree - give me a clearly indicated "Brewed/Bottled/Canned on" date, not aBB date or even worse, a string of undefined numbers.

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Burning Phoenix Jalapeno (2025) from 11th Hour Brewing. 16 fl oz can, purchased 26/02/26 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. $ 4.75 (Including tax)/$ 0.297/fl oz. In reefer at distributor, stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 10/03/26, review 3702.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Like most jalapeno peppers, this is very vegetal with some heat – not what I’d call hot but just kind of harshly spicy. When it first came out (2018/2019), I don’t think “Chili Beer” was a style. It could be easily improved by charring the peppers before adding them – IMHO, a little smoke would certainly ameliorate the general harshness.

Alright then. My final electrical inspection passed with flying colors so now the final building inspection is last and that's in 24 hrs. Whew! I hate all this sh*t. But what I do not loathe are the ultra fine beers that our lovely European friends produce. I thank you! And I feel lucky to be here and lucky to be able to have and to buy these beers. XXOO

Ranked #5 on the site. It is a model for the style and is easily one of the best beers I've ever had. Because of @Todd we have decades of compiled data that guides lil' old me to right down to the glass to help ensure and to eek out (with yer geek out) the optimum way to enjoy a beer. This beer! Ha! Amazing.:beers:
BA sez/recommends using a tulip glass for this style. A Duvel glass will have to suffice.
Gently rolling the bottle to loosen the bed of sedi prior to the pour & swirl. I want all one million parts of the parts per million....:beers::beers:

Today, it's grey and rainy outside, out here in McGregor--but both cats Gracie and Sundae are excited to help me check out the day's new brews...a celebration of fine Ontarian breweries: First, with Gracie, it's my fourteenth beer from Cheltenham's Badlands Brewing Company--their 6.5% Dora #87 IPA...

    Poured...

More momentarily! Cheers, from McGregor! =)

Next, with Sundae, my eighteenth brew from Kingston's Fine Balance Brewing Company--the 4.8% Precipice New Zealand Pilsner...

    Poured...

Finally, also with Sundae, it's my twenty-seventh beer from Etobicoke's Great Lakes Brewery--their 5% PDA Witbier w/Hibiscus & Fruit...

Tomorrow: Three more new libations to carefully contemplate, from the following Ontarian breweries:
    --Fairweather Brewing Company (Hamilton; my twenty-second);
--Rainhard Brewing Co. (Toronto; my twelfth); and
--Wave Maker Craft Brewery (Cambridge; my fifth)...

Have a great rest of your day, and cheers...from The Responsible Beer Drinking Club! =)
