    “The beer cranks”

If that doesn’t sum up many of y’all on here, I don’t know what does!

How about, "Beer Advocates." Works for me.

I’m relatively new here, but I can already tell the difference between “Beer Advocates” and “beer cranks.”

Let’s just say some use words and phrases like “insipid” and “horse p1$$” and Beer Advocates don’t.

If only there was, like, some sort of guideline to understand tasting beer by someone who, you know, might have a great deal of experience with the subject?

    "Temperature
Many people drink their beer too damn cold. Cold temperatures will numb the taste buds and literally mask the beer's true flavors, aromas and nuances. Use color (malts) and alcohol content to determine the best drinking temperatures. Try around 40–50 degrees F for paler or lower alcohol beers, and 50–60 degrees F for darker or higher alcohol beers."

    Just to be clear...

You feel members should not be making any critical statements about beer (no derogatory statements), or they need to clean up the language they employ when making statements critical of certain beers?

Assuming, of course, that they don't wish to be labeled as "beer cranks."

Could be. Humor and satire are sometimes difficult to detect in social forums. I'm so bad at it, I increasingly use emojis, just so there's no misunderstanding. I'm not suggesting that you do that... just pointing out the inherent difficulty.

Yeah, I use emojis to indicate humor. Especially the laughing one when I’m trying to be funny.

Whether or not I’m ACTUALLY funny is debatable.

Cold Coors light at a crawfish boil is the best.

I posted a similar sentiment a few weeks ago in another thread:

"The last time I drank a Stella was while eating crabs at the Jersey shore. That beer went well with that dining experience."

And yes, those draft pints of Stella Artois were cold.

    Cheers to beer and seafood!!!

I actually just don’t like AAL beers anymore. I’d rather waste the calories on almost anything else.
When it’s hot, I like limeade, maybe with tonic, then of course gin

I Love this old time advertisement

It's so true how temperature completely changes the expression of beer...
I've got the mini fridge in the man cave... The one that my boys took to the dorm...
It's amazing how sensitive the thermostat is and the local zones and how long it takes for everything to come to equilibrium... So I've been using my food thermometer to measure each shelf and location...

    Lately,
I've been sticking that thermometer right in the bottle or right in the can to take the temperature... Sometimes it's hard to be patient to let it warm up... I mean summertime is one thing... But mean you're in the man cave it can take some time.

I was rinsing my mug with hot water to get the residual proteins and any oils off the mug... If you pour 40° beer into a mug that's been rinsed with hot water... Temperatures close to perfect... You'll taste the difference immediately.

I highly recommend knowing the temperature of what you're drinking and how long it takes to get to that sweet spot... The risk is when you're thirsty It goes down fast... But you're not getting the full experience

    What a great thread!

I looked this beer up on Untappd. Apparently Canadians find beer “quaffable,” not “crushable.”

It all depends on what I'm drinking, if I'm going fishing, a Corona as cold as I can get it, if I'm having a barrel-aged stout, 55deg
