“What we have here is a failure to comm…” Oh wait, no we don’t. This actually is a classic West Coast IPA. Dank, resin, weedy, pungent… Definitely not zesty and tropical… Can Raul get a hells yeah!? Let’s go!

Happy Sunday everyone and happy birthday to the faithful French member and moderator over here.

    Duvel Tripel Citra Hop.

Later this afternoon we’re getting a friend for cider and cake. I can find happiness in this.

    Cheers!

I can 100% recall my first SNPA. High school in the early 2000’s and we scored a six pack. Now, we usually drank 32 ouncers of High Life or any Mexican beer we could get our hands on, mostly. But like I said, this night we had Sierra Nevada. And as I sat at my friend’s house during a low key boogie, I think I choked on my first sip. I couldn’t do it. It was just so strong to my delicate palate and lips… And I fucking love it. Experiences are life. Hold on to old ones and just live… well, just live.

Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting one of the worst beers you'll ever drink: Harbin Wheat King!

A big round of applause, please, for this slightly beer-flavoured water!

It's the beer you drink when you don't like the taste of beer, or the taste of water, so you decide to go half-arsed on both!

You too could pour half the beer down the drain and then consume a cob of corn just to relieve overwhelming sweetness in your mouth!

Go on, you know you want to!

    Drink it! Drink it now!

    Cheers!

    • Hell yeah with your open and Kern River @RaulMondesi ! Cheers to life on the West Coast.
    • Nice pic @Shanex , beer selection and hope you have a great and Happy Birthday!
    • Usually get my SNAP out west @tolar111 , as it's hard to find fresh here beyond draft at The Beer Temple. FU Hazy Little beer that took over all the tap handles, and Reyes who pushed it.
    • Hope you can find a second and better beer to celebrate Sunday @AzfromOz .
This selection is working out better than the cherries jubilee selection from yesterday, despite being even sweeter. This beer comes through as advertised. New Beer Sunday #1099 treatment linked here, full beer review linked below. This one worked out better than the fruit flavored pull yesterday, but then again fruit BA beers typically fall short for me @Ozzylizard , even Revolution’s attempts.

And congratulations Marshall and Marist for taking two of the four Illinois High School State Championships on Saturday. Marist was a big upset, and they are the third and final East Suburban Catholic Conference team to win a State Championship, joining Benet and Saint Joseph's, in the final season of the conference before returning to the Chicago Catholic League.

Have a good Sunday. Happy Birthday @Shanex to his first fatherly Bday. Last night we were up late and had a huge Cookout feast with oreo shakes and I was drinking a liter of water an hour after that salt. We watched Inglourious Basterds finally after hearing all the hype. Half the film is in French/German and we thought we had the wrong language, but we always use subtitles, so it's never an issue:grin:(VLC subtitles are best). The Christoph Waltz performance was incredible. I slept all afternoon after reading 2 books in the morning. I had a weird dream where I was in France and my car broke down and the daughter of the garage owner was the Shosanna character. SSRI do some weird shit. Also I was in my underwear for the whole dream. I got her phone number, because it was somehow a smartphone era, and then I got lost and couldn't find my way back. The Tarantino cameo is literally him getting scalped. He also chokes the Movie Star character so the stunt people didn't have to. 8/10

Books: Atoms and Ashes by Serhii Plokhy a slow but detailed book about nuclear disasters, gives insight into regulations and the fact that Chernobyl isn't going to be cleaned up til 2065 4/5. Live and Let Die by Ian Fleming liked this more than Casino Royale. More spy stuff and a memorable story build up with the treasure and poison fish and such. Showing its age with the racially sensitive terms for Mr. Big's entourage. 4.1/5

Roxie doing well with the 5 kittens after 1.5 weeks. The gray tabby with the white belly is the most developed and has their eyes open. Getting greedy on that milk. Going to be cold this week so we got a space heater for the 2nd bedroom.

2/25/2026 Canned Wicked Weed Pernicious. My Go-To IPA for sure. Insanely resinous when it is this fresh. I just got another 12 pack from walmart for $20 last week. Going to keep that rotation if it is this fresh every time I buy it. :nerd:

Good day BAs! Thanks @RaulMondesi for opening the bar! And @Shanex, happy naked day!
@AzfromOz - sorry about your choice in brews, but thanks for taking one for the team!

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Bourbon Barrel Peanut Brittle Barleywine (2025) from Kuhnhenn Brewing. 12 fl oz bottle, purchased 03/03/26 from Half Time. $18.18 (Including tax and shipping)/$ 1.52/fl oz. Stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 15/03/26, review 3707.
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Very easy drinking but odd! Some of the advertised flavors are detectable – but the bourbon and barrel remain undetectable until the very end. Nearly flat – only the anemic bubble ring indicates any carbonation. To me, this doesn’t taste like peanut brittle – more like a bag of slightly rancid peanuts.

    G'day all!

1-3 inches of ❄️ were predicted yesterday and what we got was less than an inch and most of it on the vehicles. Lol !

I'm sipping on this English Strong Ale collaboration between Thornbridge and Theakston. Reminds me of a Fullers Vintage Ale. Good stuff but again, I like more malt in the English beers...

    Prost!

Back at it BAs only today (and tmrw) it's time for some snow grooming. And a lot of it. 16.5 hrs here non stop and is getting heavier this morning and has become pretty windy. Seeing 8 more hrs of this where I live. So, having a local beer and making a 1st pass to clear off my cars and a path to the garage. My new neighbor from Miami is doin' the Ed Grimly dance. This weather is like a dream for him. Ha! He doesn't have to groom the shit. Summit Winter Ale because it is still Winter (looking at you Sierra Nevada and your goofball-o-rama seasonal creepiness) and the price was $4.99 per 4pk. Exp date 4/10/26. That my friends is a good beer price. Don't forget how that feels after paying out yer ring piece for 4pks of craft. Cheers!
