I had both of the Muebles and wasn't a huge fan. I'm not a wine barrel aging fan and the blenders choice was heavy on the tannin notes, IMHO. I might tempted to try the base Muebles again.
I grabbed the Amburana pack as I'm a HUGE fan of Amburana. Included are Amburana Gem, Amburana Noir, and B. Keeper. I have heard good things. Any thoughts?
Amburana Noir is great. It's just what you're expecting. B. Keeper flavor balance didn't work for me. Nothing bad, I hope you enjoy. It's really dry for a Bruery beer.
I don't recall B. Keeper being very Amburana forward. I had Blender's Choice Amburana before Noir. It was very good. BT with nicely balanced Amburana (I had to buy 24 so if you have any interest in trading send me a DM). Noir is an Amburana punch in the face! Liquid Amburana? It is definitely my favorite of the group because of how different and unique it tasted. I've never had anything tasting remotely close to it. Very much looking forward to Gem! P.S. not related to Bruery but I miss Bamburana A collaboration with Oskar Blues and Cigar City-imperial stout aged in whiskey and brandy barrels with figs, dates and Amburana wood spirals.
I opened a Heavenly Bliss tonight. It's Black Tuesday at its best. More maple wouldn't hurt my feelings, but it's there and it's so smooth.
Thr3e (2021) I'm not loving this bottle. In a past bottle I noticed a kind of cherry flavor, which was interesting since there's no cherry or adjunct in this beer. However in this case it's veered toward a cherry cough syrup that distracts from what is otherwise probably a good base. Some sips are channeling cherry cola, which is interesting but not bad. But when the cloyingness creeps up it goes cough syrup. Not an infection, just the way it's matured.
Shit. I have one more bottle and might need to open it sooner than later to see if this trend is consistent.
Drinking the second half tonight. It's a bit better. Not bad, but I wouldn't buy more based on this experience. The flavor I'm getting must be from the barleywine. I think it's a cloyingness plus an oxidation, neither of which I'd associate with BT or Ani.
Bamburana was one of my FAVORITE beers. I grabbed as many cans as I could find when it was released. I was always hoping that they would release it again. I guess not . I'm hoping to pick up my Gem and Noir soon. I will definitely think about that Blender's Choice...
Have you tried Tuesday Morning? I'm enjoying one right now. My very minor critique is that it maybe has a touch too much maple, though it's still excellent and I'm glad I bought several. I liked Heavenly Blis more because it was a little more nuanced with the maple. Or maybe it just felt that way because the base beer was a bolder double barrel BT? Hmm... Can't lose either way.
Yes, I love Tuesday Morning for just the reasons you stated. It had just the right amount maple for me. Both were excellent beers in their own way and I will buy either again given the opportunity. In the same flavor profile, I also really enjoyed Stacks Reserve Maple. I do agree, the extra nuances that the double barrel versions bring is very tasty. The reserve and grand reserve BT's tend to be some of my favorite beers, hands down.
