To me, a good Maibock has a sweetish malt character that's unlike the dry mouthfeel of a Festbier or the bigger melanoidin breadiness of a good Märzen. Maybe because I've been into German style beers for so long I can disseminate between characters more easily, but Maibock is all Spring to me. Märzen is Autumn. Fest? Well, many German breweries will brew one for any festival year-round, so it's a whenever beer.
Shit, that looks good. I need to grab a four pack ASAP (though, the last four pack I bought was filled with gushers, not cool).
STOP it you two! Almost did a spit take both times (but I was drinking an excellent BKS Pacific Specific & wasn't about to lose a drop)!
Spring beer for me is when the very last of the Celebration on gone from the shelves and is replaced by the spring IPAs despite it being 10 below outside.
Funny. The beer manager at my local was happy to point out the new stack of Summerfest to me yesterday. Probably the earliest I've seen it around here.
Waldos....at least until lagunitas decides to fuck it like all their other great beers over the past 10 yrs
