Outer Range Misty Mornings (7.7% canned 1/11/26): A NEIPA from Colorado with Mosaic, Mouteka, Nelson for flavors of orange, lychee, blueberry, tropical peach.

Nice Mosaic and Motueka flavors here. Some tropical blueberry and peach. A little better than the RAR IPA I had earlier. I meant to do a battle.

Finally back home after a magnificent beer nerd week in New England. I muled this back, along with 10 of its Alchemist brothers, in a soft duffle that obviously had to be checked.

I was as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Not to worry. Everything came through in tip top shape. I’m going to do with this world class beer what I’ll do later this week with Heady and Rapture - one from the glass, one from the can.

From the glass is fantastic - so dank yet so balanced. Truly a pleasure to drink.

 

Going to be sorry to see this one go.

 

Have a good Thirsty Thursday. I slept all evening to 1230Am last night and read the rest of John Lewis: A Life by David Greenberg. 4.5/5 book all the way through. Early civil rights champion in his 20s and politician up to his death in 2020 at 80. Waiting to the last minute to get my goodreads badge for Black History month. I am finishing up The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben right now which is a fun book about forest ecology by a German forester 4.25/5

Another 2/25/2026 Canned Wicked Weed Pernicious from the 12 pack. My Go-To IPA. Refreshingly dank and crisp resins. Last of the pack. Time to go to walmart for more peanut butter and cat litter.

Ahhh yes. Schmidt is/was a pounder. I just like what I like and honestly enjoy a good amt of AALs. I am not hung up about lighter beers and glass color. There are tons of beers for me yet to discover. I've had 116 styles with 15 remaining. In fact, an ice cold Grain Belt Premium Light is what I'd like to slamajama right now. Cheers!

 

It's Opening Day! As Pete Rose said "It's like Christmas, but warmer.", and my Cards have already won, with my Mariners being the last game of the day.

First baseball beer of the year is a Jack's Abby Post Shift Pilsner that I grabbed when I was back in NYS a couple weeks ago. Good beer.

John Kimmich is right, IMHO - as with Heady in my experience, Focal is better from the can. Absolutely love it.

I am a happy old beer nerd.

 

I like this one a lot. Just added it to BA a couple days ago and am having my second can today so that my thoughts can crystallize before fully reviewing it. Malty goodness plus hop bitterness with only a touch of grapefruit rind flavor. I have no idea where they get off calling this a "hazy", though. I have had straight up WC IPAs with more haze than this., and the flavor profile (IMO) includes virtually none of the claimed "tropical punch, berries, and peach".

Fun fact though: F.M.L. is abbreviation for Fear Movie Lions which is the What3Words app designation for a 3x3 meter space within the Stone Escondido brewery. What3Words is a free app that provides precise geo-location via GPS signal using 3 unique words corresponding to that exact location. I can walk around my house or yard and generate different 3-word combinations in What3Words, so if I call 911 emergency services and say "here are my 3words" they can navigate to your exact position within 10 ft. Works anywhere you can get a GPS signal.
