Mug club at our local brewery, Gravel Bottom. They had a new porter on tap that I had to try:
    Wet Paddle Porter-
    [IMG]
It is a very good porter, just not as good as their Rix Porter, a robust porter that, in my opinion, stands up to both Founders and Bells porters.
But a tiny brewery with two porters? I like it!

I found one of these on the West Coast too, but I failed in the appreciation test.

˚˚˚Urk˚˚˚ it’s that sweet and sour taste mixed up with the caramel. This is so sweet, as in sweeter than hot cocoa, but with a burnt edge. Slight bitterness but no apparent hop flavor. Thick on the tongue, which is begging for something cleansing. Maybe with a double dose of alcohol this might be sippable, but it does no favors with that icky taste of old old oranges. “Hmmm, is that mold?” Maybe the stuff is elderly, I can’t see a date.

After an hour and a half of one of the most intense workouts on the planet i did enjoy it.

Didn't get any of the flavors you described and in my experience it was very thin.
    Maybe i was dying

Thanks @Ozzylizard for the opportunity. Saint Arnold Bourbon Barrel French press, 11/23/2020 bottling. 4.13/5 rating for me. Still a lot of nutty coffee and rich malts without being too roasty. It was quite murky, but the barrel complexity was big and a bit spicy on spirit tannins. Good dryness on alcohol, not that heavy for 9.9%. A worthwhile adventure.

Big Timber Porter. I got this one from @DoctorZombies last summer in Green Bay, I loved it! Very nutty and biscuity malt richness. Big dark chocolate and coffee, balanced earthy hops. This reminded me a lot of Edmund Fitzgerald, spot on style American porter. 4.2/5

A Baltic Porter sent to me by @russpowell - and it’s a little sweet, but I think it was delicious.
More words in NBW if you’re interested.
    Cheers!

Another cellar pull. 2/1/2021 Founders Panther Cub. Huge vanilla, marshmallow cream, milk chocolate, cocoa, maple syrup, caramel, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, and light smoke/coffee. Mild herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish. very creamy/silky vanilla/malt body. Mild increasing warmth of 9.2%. Not huge on barrel, but adequate. Wonderful dessert style robust porter on malt complexity. Still got a couple more from the 4 pack.

Hammerheart Thor's Imperial Hot Pepper Porter. Got from someone at the GreenBay July 2025 meetup. Great fluffy head retention and spotty soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread/crust, nuttiness, smoke, charcoal, reaper/scorpion chili peppers, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine. Taste follows with huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread/crust, caramel, nuttiness, smoke, charcoal, reaper/scorpion chili peppers, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine. Light-medium pine, herbal, woody, charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Big creamy/silky malts, with some sticky hop and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lingering hop/roasted dryness, no cloying/acrid/astringency. Very mild lingering warmth of 9.6%, and chili pepper heat. Truly an incredible experimental imperial porter as they were able to make this feel very classic on the style, while adding pepper flavors with basically no heat. Truly top tier. Super similar to the Stone ones on malt character. 4.35/5

Porter from Single Hill Brewing in Yakima

Aromatic with dark malt. Rich and sudsy on the tongue. Roasted grain flavor, some burnt ends, and a moderate bitter finish. This is bigger and bolder than, say, Anchor Porter. It's also very likeable and easy to sip. Even though the alcohol is moderate it seems much more robust. In any case this is one of the best Porters I've had in a long time.
