Filters don't look at context as that would require a fair amount of logic - they just identify a word and replace it.

From what I understand, Snow****** was used as a political derogatory term in England and elsewhere which is why it probably is being filtered out,.

 

I didn't use an inflammatory term in an inflammatory way.

 

Again you're repeating what I said which is that filters have no context.

 

There are tools now that are way more sophisticated, but they’re unlikely to be implemented in forum software like this.

Reminds me of a time in high school when I tried to look up the town of Toppenish, WA on the library computer, because “Toppenish” contains a certain 5-letter sequence that evidently they didn’t want us searching in the school library, and its filter was entirely blind to context. ‘Course this was, like, almost 30 years ago, so at that time the filter probably was state-of-the-art

Agreed - I believe the forum software on BA is pretty old and I thought there was an effort being made to upgrade the software.

“S n o w f l a k e s” is censored because it’s a political insult, not because it’s a bad word.

It’s widely used as a political insult
“S n o w f l a k e” evolved into a derogatory term meaning someone who is:
• overly sensitive
• fragile
• easily offended
• self‑important

It became a staple insult in U.S. and U.K. political arguments, especially online.
Because BA tries to keep political fights off the forum, the word is on their “auto‑asterisk” list.

Honestly, I'm cool with that. So if your post gets asterisked, you could just edit it and type the word with spaces between the letters.
