Have a good Monday. Today is my 2nd wedding anniversary, but also the 3rd was 5.5 years since the first date. Sometimes ruining your life gets a bounce back. Still waiting for my next career calling, but I'll keep reading hundreds of books a year in the meantime. We are going to Outback with some holiday gift cards for dinner. They should have Pernicious, so my body is ready. I read half of The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein, 4.25/5. Did not know anything about the Juntas and Keynesian economics. Super enlightening, but long, pace is medium and keeps me interested. I need to take a break from it to read 3 books due in 3 days: What an Owl Knows by Jennifer Ackerman(loved her Genius of Birds book!), Moonraker by Ian Fleming for Bond #3, and The Age of Voltaire by Will Durant(43 hour monster, I can't wait to hear it). I also have Life of Greece by Will Durant on my loan shelf. Only a mere 33 hours.


State of Brewing Shuteye Peak Pale Ale from Aldi. APA for under $14 a 12 pack. Run of the mill Chinook and Fuggles tasting pale, it's as resinous as an IPA, but very enjoyable.

New local German style pils. Round Trip Brewing Precision Pilsner 4.5% brewed with Tettnang and Spalt Select hops. Super clear pour. Floral on the nose. Grainy malt. Spicy and peppery hops. Moderate bitterness. Dry to the finish. Only negative was a short head retention. Nicely done.

 

Congratulations on the anniversary Ian - you guys make a wonderful couple! Cheers!!
