A thread for all the chasers of BeerAdvocate's Top 250 Rated Beers out there. https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/top-rated/ New releases, vintages, availability, new adds, recently retired from the Top 250...Discuss!! Cheers fellow chasers!
First update is an exciting one and a beer I know people chasing the top 250 have been waiting on….Galaxy Cutting Tiles from Trillium is BACK!
For the top 10, or maybe top 50, how many of these are available outside the close vicinity of the given brewery. I’d love to have some the BA stouts at the top of the list, but in many cases due to limited releases and limited distribution it doesn’t seem feasible.
This is why I’ll never be a “chaser.” Sure, I’ll try the best of what’s available locally. And even when I’m on vacation. But I won’t be trading or taking any other “extreme” measures to try them. And there are ones that I won’t even try because I know I’ll hate them. So I’ll do my best to knock as many off as seems reasonable to me.
I always scroll through the list just to see how cool the beers I'm drinking are. Turns out, not very. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Honestly not a whole lot. Trading or secondary sites on FB are a necessity to really make a dent in the list. And also forming great beer relationships here on Beer Advocate. Several people I’ve “met” on here have probably helped me tick at least half of the top 250…most very generously
Some have been known to smuggle 2oz vials poured from glassware at brewery up their butts to send to BA. Gave a whole new meaning to the term "butt chug". Tickers gotta tick.
Been on BA for 15 years. Live in Pa, decent distribution. Only 39/250. Not likely to change much, unless I spend a couple of weeks cruising around Vermont. Which is far from the worse idea.....
Looking at the list, the majority of the beers on there are things I have no interest in seeking out. Lots of hazies and pastries. Would be interested in the saisons, but didn't inspect to see if they were fruited. Saw No Rules on the list. No idea what y'all are thinking that's a good beer. Just pour a shot of Kahlua and Malibu into two Guinness FES and call it a day.
Guess what we are doing later this year Done it before and happy to do it again. Will be first time to HF. So yeah, it’s a great idea!
I'm at 14, I had 2 Side Projects in just tasters at Barrique's second to last weekend so I could probably tick those but I hate to not do proper reviews with a real pour. Maybe one day I'll get more of them.
Man, Tree House really is overhyped lol. 12% of the top 250 is whack. And I say that as a total fanboy of their beer.
