Was in the mood for a Quad tonight, specifically Ommegang Three Philosophers. Couldn't easily find any. Had the foresight to load this one into the beer reefer earlier. Quite tasty. Close my eyes and I'm drinking a Quad. Fine line between them and Belgian Darks. This even has that kiss of cherry you get with 3 Phil's. Or maybe just in my mind. I'll take it.

This is my house beer. @Mdog is my dealer. @ZlaVydra, since I had to cancel Behemoth, I turn my attention to my Swedish Viking brothers in Amon Amarth. At a new Live Nation venue. I am sure the beers will be horrible and expensive.

Well here’s another brewery under closure and/or relocation of brewery operations to other brewers. Add Red Hook out of Seattle to San Francisco’s Anchor, Oregon’s Rogue and Berkeley’s Trumer. It really seems difficult to keep these companies in balance with all the changes in the beer / seltzer and hard liquor scene.

I think I’m going to put a section in the expansive and temperature-controlled Beermeister32 Bierhoard for these beers. Many of these breweries have any number of brews still on the shelves. I guess what is happening to them mimics the damage they did to the macrobrewers business as well. What goes around, comes around!

Speaking of which, I recently drove by the massive Irwindale plant, the largest in the West. Formerly Miller, now an independent owner, City Brewing and Beverage, with an ever growing four huge plants now across the US. It really is amazing the changes that continue to happen in this industry.

Red Hook Long Hammer IPA is (or maybe “was”) a delicious and predictable 6% ABV, 44 IBU West Coast IPA. Yeah, I know it is a touch on the cloudy side to be a Westie, but it is one nevertheless. Not anything like a NEIPA for sure. Enjoy! (While you still can!)

 

Minneapolis has always been good to me. It just offers to much temptation, and I feel too comfortable.

NAH. Still great. Can't get over how grainy this malt backbone is. Like a Cumbre meets HA Space combo. Maybe that's why it speaks to me. EDIT: also the foam on this as it sits is ridiculous. Like eating hop ice cream. M O R E.

Going to knock back this bottle of Chimay Grande Reserve. I couldn't find a date on the bottle but it seems really fresh and delicious!! Stellar pop when I pulled the cork.

60 Minute IPA brewed by Dogfish Head. Survived the Granddads for Kids church event today. It was pretty neat.

This brewery is doing some amazing things! Going to Germany, visiting small towns, learning about forgotten styles and brewing methods, drinking, researching....
A friend (not on BA) is a huge fan , and just went up there on a pilgrimage. He sent me a photo of this beer. When I saw it at DiCiccios the other day, I had to get it. Tried to recreate his photo, as well, but didn't have the river; the ridge will suffice.

It is - I always enjoy it, but this bottle is tasting exceptionally good!! A really nice change from IPAs!
