If I go yellow, this is one of the first that I think about. You know, that one day per year.

Continuing the porter theme, I have one sent to me by @Resistance88 in an ongoing trade war. Between friends, not so much a war as he keeps trying to destroy my porch and I try to destroy his. Very friendly like. Yeah.
Poured from a 16 oz can dated late ‘25
Tall beige head that leaves copious amounts of lacing.
The taste is all porter with hints of smoke and vanilla. The roasted malts are no longer hard edged, the flavors rather blend together. Interestingly the smoke and vanilla appear distinctly at times.
The feel is light but full. Very quaffable.
OA, it might have been different fresh, but I may never know.
That was consumed far too quickly. It may not have been as good as fresh but I still enjoyed it.
    Thanks Tomas!

Hah, not been called that by anyone but Mrs. Powell ( when she thinks I'm being bossy ) in almost 20 years unless we include when I talk to USAA.

Sembach ( Rhineland Phfalz ), Was lucky, got to TDY over to our Army Support Locations in Bavaria quite a bit. There was the bier!

Abita Experimental IPA, 6.0% ABV; 3.44 overall

Pours a semi-hazy gold with one finger of beige head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Melons, peaches, fades once warm

T: Green melon, cantaloupe, tangerine & dryness up front, some white grape as well. Green melon, tang & a little peach once warmed up. Finishes a little dry, oranges, white grapes & cantaloupe

MF: Light/medium body, subdued carbonation, okay balance. Body gets a little watery

This one had a chance, needed more body & balance, nose. Probably works down there 80% + time of the year, but boring to me. Back to the drawing board folks... sad, flavor was almost there to drive this

    Tox brewing imperial stout
...motor oil black appearance with a mocha lasting head
...medium light carbonation with an above average body thats creamy, full and thick. Very satisfying feel
...aroma is a heavy hit of mocha and fudge followed by roasted malt and mild plum
...taste is as thick and full as the body. Thick creamy mocha and fudge candy which comes off sweet and candy like but stops before becoming an ice cream sundae.
There's roasted malt and coffee beans but mild behind the mocha and fudge.
... couldn't do more than one, especially because of the high abv but an exceptional dessert beer[IMG]

Agreed! Polished off a few pints of that at the brewery back in 2015 - it was really unique and drinkable. I think they must have roasted the (Hatch?) chilies as there was this little hint of char around the edges.

While a different beast, should you find yourself in Julian CA, I recommend sampling Jalapeño Gold over at Nickel Brewing if you haven't already.

The porter was a lower ABV offering than I generally use for a nightcap so I pulled out one that I picked up today (and had to add it to the database)
It is apparent that the mixed 4 pack of imperial stouts with different additives or adjuncts is becoming more common. For instance, today I found one from Trail Point Brewing Company and had to try them.
This is the coffee vanilla variant, which I enjoyed well enough, but it won’t be shaking the industry up in any way.
The pour is morning coffee brown (lighter than the earlier porter!) with a light brown head that struggles to cover the surface, yet leaves decent lacing.
The taste is coffee forward, warm white bread, vanilla (no harshness from the beans, so maybe a flavoring?) cocoa and general malty goodness.
The feel is full yet thin for the style. I don’t expect heavy viscosity but I do expect a decent heft to the feel, this falls a bit short.
OA, one of a mixed pack of four different BBA imperial stouts with an assortment of additives or adjuncts.
A pretty good, not great, but pretty good foray into the BBA Imperial Stout mixed 4 pack.
I look forward to trying the other three but with lower expectations.
    Cheers!

Mostly ADHD and doing 30 things at once. Someday I will catch up. Still behind by 300 on book reviews. It'll get done. But I will read another 100 books or more in the meantime, which will make the gap even wider.

Davey’s Irish Red Ale from Gold Dot Beer in Oregon

Pleasant beer smell with an herbal hoppy note. Light body and plenty of spritz on the tongue. A more distinct bitter aftertaste than usual for the style. I’d call it a Red Pilsner, but in any case it’s quite drinkable and just a hint of sweetness. Some malty flavor but more in the roasted grain taste. No apparent date.

Congratulations on your latest renovations and bathroom addition @jonphisher ! Hit my first live NHL game in a while (Carolina pounded Chicago 7-2), and looking forward to following a few teams and hope one can bring the Cup home (in order Montreal, Vegas, Buffalo, Edmonton, Tampa Bay, or Minnesota).

Initially had a brewery trip in mind for early evening, but decided to enjoy my last new to me beer in the house to celebrate New Beer Sunday #1103, and pick up a bunch of lower ABVs now that the warmer weather is arriving. This is a collaboration between two of my favorite breweries.

Full review linked above. If you handed me this beer without a description, would say this is a TIPA, perhaps a strong DIPA, and not a barleywine. The Dry Hopped and I'm guessing heavy hop treatment is consistent with many American Barleywines, but this one has a minimal malt presence which suits me to a tee, but may not be for everyone. Really glad I picked this up, and hope they replicate this down the road. A great collaboration and perfect way to end the weekend.

    Cheers!

Time for my breakfast beer this Sunday morning. As it is jumping to summer today, I thought this might be a good one to try.

Spring Ale - Trillium Brewing - Canton, MA - Herb & Spice beer - 4.5%

I like this beer, but I also think the flavor is a shell of what it could be.

    From a 16oz can. Canned on 02/13/2026

This beer is fairly clear looking with just a faint haze to it. The beer's color is golden. There's a 2 finger white head that has decent head retention and leaves a bit of lacing on the glass.
The aroma has a nice smell to it. I get lemon and coriander. These aromas are nice and refreshing smelling. Very pleasing to my nose. There's also an earthy floral hint from the chamomile that adds a finishing touch to the aroma.
Based on the aroma, I was expecting a flavor bomb. While the flavor is good, it does seem muted. The lemon seems the most muted, I am hardly getting any of it. I am still getting the chamomile and coriander, and they taste very good, they are dialed back.
This beer is crisp feeling. I am getting a bubbly feeling to it. It is clean and refreshing.
I had high hopes for this beer, but the flavor let me down a bit. That being said, this beer is tasty, but it just seems to be a shell of what it could be.

I may be done with new beers for the weekend. If so, I'll see you all when the virtual bar opens up again next week. Cheers!
