Aw shit, my guy Blaney lost a close one in overtime. At least I can console myself with a la Cumbre Elevated, thanks to @snaotheus .

When the folks at Landbrauerei Schönram call their light beer a Hell, they mean it! Located in Schönram, Germany this is a small Bavarian brewer located about a half an hour’s drive from the Austrian border, right in that golden beer zone between Munich and Salzberg. Since 1780! Reinheitsgebot too!

Hell as we know is German for “Light”, meaning light color, not light in flavor or calories or alcohol. Those who have brewed know how hard it can be making something this light in color. Wow! Great job!

Schönramer Hell is a delicious 5% ABV Helles – and for you Pilsner lovers, the hopping on this Helles almost tipping into Pilsner territory. It’s one of the more “up hopped” Helles beers I’m had. Usually they have a bit more malty presentation, I’d almost say this is hop-forward. A bit. Just a bit.

Wow, open fermentation too. In the US, we regularly have conniption fits over low oxygen brewing, and then these guys show us up big time - handing us our heads on a platter with their open fermentation! Clearly there are some lessons to be learned from the brewers in Schönram! Prost!

Soooooo, my friend and roomie just dropped a thing called Gravity Blast, a home brewed barleywine that's at least 10 years old.

    Pray for me.

    Last from Saint Arnold...

Semi Southern Hemi, a pale ale with New Zealand hops. Its very nice, I could use a bit more bitterness, but something I can drink a lot of given the chance. Again, review over at the NBW thread.

Oh its also Art Car Parade weekend...whchi is a big deal in Houston. Saint Arnold obviously has Art Car IPA, but they are also the sponsors for the parade...and have a ton of art cars of their own.

A couple where out on the parade, so you know, this is what was just hanging around the brewery
