Beers were average at best and the ambience was almost nil....it was like sitting in a large warehouse.
Are they brewing on site or is it three tasting rooms in a shared space? Is there common ownership? Ie, three brands in the same conglomerate? Does each brewery fit different niches or do they all do similar stuff?
I was wondering why the Milwaukee facility sort of lacks a "soul." It was a great place for MKE Brewing, but the Pilot Project bought them, sold off their recipes, and now offers a bunch of beers from (for?) other brewers.
In my experience, an actual pint of beer costs way more than what most places charge to pour it for you (a bar). An example: Hamm's at $0.45 an ounce works out to $7.20 per pint. FOR HAMM'S. And these places rely heavily on your heavy pours. Have you ever tried pouring four ounces using an on/off push button? At least froyo has a lever with force feedback.
We've got one near me, that I've never been to, and their prices are about in line with the breweries/bars. I don't see the attraction.
Two of the breweries, New France and Abstract Realm, share the on-site brewing equipment. Abjuration has their own off-site brewery and tasting room, so they just use the common tasting room as a second point of sale. As far as I know, they are three completely separate entities. They're all a little different, but not massively. Their taplists are below. Abjuration Brewing | Home Beer Menu — Abstract Realm Brewing Company NFBC Home Page
"Tickers like me" are people who like trying lots of different beers? Ticking them off the master list?
That being said, my nephew who used to work at Great Lakes brought up issues with maintaining the lines and keeping things clean at these places
I really like trying different beers. If that makes me a ticker, so be-it. I originally got on BA as a way to keep track of what I had. My memory is not that great. In a couple of years, I forget the names of beers I’ve had.
Neighboring Buffalo has this: https://www.chandlerstreetbreweries.com/ No doubt some outside the area have heard of Thin Man (former owner Mike Shatzel of famed but shuttered Blue Monk and Allen Burger Venture, and current owner of fine beer establishments such as Moor Pat, Coles, Moor Room, Colter Bay & Liberty Hound). I refer to Mike as former owner of Thin Man because Community Beer Works bought the business but continues to brew their beer. Community is a really solid brewery (The Whale is a spectacular brown ale). Haven’t had anything from smoldered society though but they are an offshoot of CBW so technically, all three breweries in the establishment are owned/associated with CBW.
