He’s back!!! Nice, I will be joining with something, in a way similar, to your beverage and reason for considering it “new.” Hopefully soon…

Also, per your question, stay tuned @deanzaZZR

I was at a real impromptu hang out with my wife’s friends. Dog gone it if our host blind bought this for me.
    I’ve never tried it.
    wtf says many BAs!
Poured magnificently with a great sustaining head.
I am a social nightmare so having this ipa put me in a happy zone
I think was a really solid grapefruit front and tremendously delic hoppy finish
    Excellent!

Excellent stuff , lemon limey bright aroma to start, those bright notes soften with time to passion fruit , peach, some resinous oils, some dank notes. This is great !

Thanks to @Beersnake for kicking off and moderating NBW #300!

Revolution Rum BA V.S.O.J. English Barleywine, 13.5% ABV. Pours very deep brown/black with a light-brown ring of bubbles. Aroma is sweet rum, dark fruit, oak, and toffee/caramel. Taste follows, plus moleasses, moderately sweet, faintly bitter. Thick mouthfeel, decent carbonation, overall world-class. My two favorite things, RBA and English Barleywine.

    Note for @jonphisher :

Magnanimous IPA is on tap in the Lovell Taproom at Fort George! It's a bit subdued, these long months after last year's release, but that spruce + IPA feel is still exquisite.

This is my first ever milkshake IPA from Tired Hands. Limoncello

I really like this one. The texture with the lactic acid really works and it tastes like a frothy lemony hoppy beer. The lemon really pops too. This is a good Summer weather beer.

Kiss of Dank by The Alchemist
    5.2% American IPA.

Poured from a pint can, the body is a slightly faded yellow with a large white fluffy head. The lacing is scant.

Aroma is an earthy pine with a bit of citrus and light floral notes.

Flavor is quite different than the nose. A malt bill balances the hops. The aroma flavors are present but muted. Overall the flavor has pine, but not as vivid as aroma, and dank. Things quickly dry up leaving a light bitterness that slowly trails off.

Mouthfeel is very good. After letting the chill come off the can, the warmed beer is soft. Carbonation good.

A tasty session beer that sacrifices no flavor.

My final new beer of the day is quite an old one, but I have no idea how old it is.

Terra Incognita - Sierra Nevada Brewing - American Strong Ale - 9.8%

To be honest, there's really nothing here. Minimal flavor is a good way to describe it. Slightly bubbly and sticky feeling. At least Iam not getting wet cardboard flavor. It is a shame this beer was aged (I just bought it yesterday). I bet it was better fresh. It is not offensive flavor wise, but I don't think I'll waste my alcohol consumption with this much more.

From a 750ml bottle. I can not see a date on the bottle.

This beer is dark brown in color, very dark looking. No light shines through this beer at all. There's a slight head to this beer that is tan colored, and less than 1 finger. What head was there actually lasted a decent amount of time. There's some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is actually very faint. I do get some hints of a red wine. I do get some cardboard notes. Just not a lot there anymore
The flavor is pretty bland up front. There's some hints of a bourbon barrel with faint toffee, vanilla and oak. At least I am not getting wet cardboard flavor.
The feeling is bubbly, even though there was little carbonation or head. There's a slight syrupy feeling to the beer.
I bet this beer was much better fresh. I have no idea how old it is, but I would say it has faded to pretty much nothing. I would say it was a shame it was aged as long as it was.

I have one more new beer in my fridge that I will pop open tomorrow. See you all then. Cheers!

Pale gold color; dense, vibrant carbonation; respectable head, white and frothy, initially large but quickly recedes to a one finger thick appearance. Mildly fruity nose with a bit of bread crust. Fine taste; zesty black pepper dominance carried by a light malt base; little sense of hop bitterness; trace of esters. Crisp mouthfeel; sharp with an overall dry feel on the palate.

While a very drinkable beer, I get little sense of the Huell Melon hops. The smell specifically lacks significant elements of melon or other fruits or floral aspects. The taste does have a certain peppery, tea-like side, but there is nothing stand-out about things overall. A fair, respectable stab at the kölsch style, but nothing that really stands out.

Are reboots OK @deanzaZZR … this thread is starting get Dogfishey…

Wow, NBW #300, quite a milestone and I’m so happy I found this bunch of beer loving nerds back then.

Today has been a whirlwind to say the least; coached two lax games for our oldest, then went to youngest ones baseball game, then oldest’s soccer game; I’m in a daze, but then the icing on the cake Mr Softee drove by

2020 was a whirlwind much like today actually; days of the week lost meaning while “teaching” from home and beer could be delivered to our door by all the breweries as a way to make money for them. I’m glad those years are behind us and I’m glad it brought me to NBW.

@Beersnake I’m breaking your rules and going way back with this one, a whole nother decade before 2020 beers. Every time those “what beer do you wish back?” threads start I mention a certain Dogfish beer. Today is the day that dream comes to life, of course I’ve had this beer before but it was over a decade ago and well before I reviewed or rated, or even found BA. It is with great personal pleasure I sip on this zombie beer today…GO FLYERS!

Dogfish Head - Aprihop (Apricot IPA 7%)

Pours a brilliant light copper, chill haze look; sticky head that condenses oh so slowly, leaving parts of itself behind with great lacing; attractive bubble laden cohesive cap remains for a while; then a thin dense film that never leaves.

Nose is malt laden hop goodness; malt has an appealing caramelized aroma to it, wisps of apricot come and go amongst resin laden hops.

Taste brings all the nose promised but more intense; the hops really bring high levels sticky pine and grapefruit; not to be outshined by a really rich caramel malt with a perfectly balanced hit of apricot.

Body is medium, but highly drinkable, dangerously so; it’s bright, super clean, and dry; great sticky and prickly hop coat on the tongue with firm bitterness that lingers.

This beer is as special as I remember it; what a pleasure to drink; it’s like a hoppier and maltier 60 minute the absolute perfect amount of apricot present. Thank you Dogfish for reviving this beer for distribution; what a treat; beer blessed.

New pic spot while living with in laws shared above, addition is moving right on schedule and sooner or later this is where the magic will happen… :smirk:

Hopefully I can get another new one in later this weekend but we’ll see. Thanks for letting me have a place to share this beer.

Harlan. An American IPA by Hill Farmstead. Cheers.

Poured from a pint can, the body is gold with a white fluffy head. Not much lacing.

Aroma is a mix of peach and a light waft of Nelson Sauvin. Taste follows nose but the simcoe steps in and brings its funky dankness to the party. A malt base helps keep the dank in line, but it's subservient. This beer is dank, earthy and modestly bitter. On finish, the flavor quickly abates.

Mouthfeel is good, substantial with strong carbonation.

Really enjoyable IPA for me (a dank beer fan) and worth trying if available in your neck of the woods.

    Happy Saturday denizens of NBW!
Another inch of rain last night added to the flooding all over Michigan but today had sunshine and a stiff breeze that helped dry at least the surface of most things.

I picked this up solely because Transient did it with the place I was standing in at the time. Horrocks Market. Even then I paused.
The pour is almost pure black with a medium brown dense that left a film of evidence, but no lacing.
The taste is a melange of vanilla and caramel, banana and what seems to be white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. Yes, it’s sweet.
The feel is exactly what you might expect from a Transient pastry stout. Viscous and smooth with virtually no carbonation.
OA, another amazing pastry stout from Transient.

And I keep trying to stop buying pastry stouts.
    Oh well.

    Cheers all!

Such great surprise this Mortalis Brewing Demihydra Smoothie Sour w/Strawberry, Watermelon & Kiwifruit Mahola to @timmy2b for this Superbowl Squares 2026 BIF Jewel!

    5.0% ABV; 4.62 overall

Pours a pulpy pink grapefruit /watermelon color with fast falling beige head. Zero head retention & lacing, some pulp & pith on the glass

S: Tons of watermelon, some strawberry

T: Follows the nose, very sweet, some acidity & tartness to keep all in harmony up front. Some Kiwifruit creeps, in but a lot of sweet watermelon & a little strawberry tartness as well once warm. Finishes a bit dry, with copious amounts of sweet watermelon & a little tart strawberry

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation at first, way sticky on the teeth; superb balance for what this is. A little acidity too

Lethal drinkability, if money was no object could destroy year-round, let alone in the Summer!

Looking forward to catching up with the thread after this review, but based on my partial read of the open, I expect to be met with many great beer reviews and reminiscing of our great times celebrating New Beer Weekend! I'll try to work something up similar to the New Beer Sunday anniversary threads when we reach the sixth year anniversary of NBW.

Planned on going to the brewery after the Sox game, but they went into extra innings to lose. Decided to crack open the one refrigerated beer I bought this afternoon to get a beer in before the clock struck midnight.

Full review linked above. This was brewed in Connecticut by Dullivan’s USA. That said, it’s better than Maoist Dry Irish stouts I’ve had, both shipped in from Ireland, or craft brewed locally or beyond. This was very light and easy, though aromas and flavors of roast malt, bakers and milk chocolate all came together well. Liked the balance vs. the overly sweet versions I experienced by other breweries. Poured nitro with a widget. Would recommend and buy again.

See you tomorrow, hopefully from Spiteful for a few before heading home to listen to the final Sox game this series in West Sacramento.

    Cheers!
