    look: 1 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.5

Poured from a 16 ounce undated can into a tulip glass at 47.5 degrees F.

Appearance- Light brown-pink, opaque, multicolored visible particulate, medium brown-pink curdled head, above average head retention and lacing, granular residue on glass wall.

Aroma- Cucumber, cinnamon, coconut, lime, watermelon, medium strength of scent.

Flavor- Watermelon, coconut, lime, high strength of flavor.

Mouthfeel- Medium body, average carbonation, silky, highly sweet, highly sour, moderately dry finish, mildly mouth coating.

Overall- Light brown-pink color and opaque with a head of similar color that looked clumpy and curdled. The bouquet was a mix of cucumber and cinnamon with coconut, lime and watermelon layered in. This missed the mark from the listing on the can of watermelon, strawberry, pineapple, coconut, key lime and sea salt. The flavor was closer to the promised list on the can, but I couldn't detect any strawberry or pineapple. The mouthfeel consisted of medium body with high sweetness and sourness and a moderately dry finish. Overall, the appearance of this beer was not at all appealing and the aromatics and flavor missed the mark on the promised flavors. The mouthfeel was thinner than expected and the mouth coating properties were too mild.

Sorry for the late chime in. Not very social of me. But I did add this one to the data base...

    Citra Sunrise
On tap at the Fullerton Heroes.
Pretty. Straw to gold in color with a fluffy white head that asserts 2 fingers in elevation, good retention, and slight soapy lacing.
Nose is citrus zest upfront. Hints of a slightly grapefruit rind bitterness chime in as well.
Flavor is more complex. Citrus zest upfront with a bit of orange and tangerine, some pineapple comes in lightly, and a crackery malt note. Smoothly bitter.
    Mouthfeel is fine for style.

Not a stellar IPA but definitely will enjoy this when I head back.

Here's something different, a Rice IPA from Ecliptic Brewing in Oregon.

Clear amber brew with abundant foam in the HopLeaf goblet from Chicago. Aromatic with cucumber, lime and melon. Pleasant sudsy mouthfeel with a sharp finish. Tastes of green apricot with lime and a hint of peach. Overall this is a better than average IPA-- as in highly drinkable with plenty of flavor and moderate bitterness. Very aromatic with the lime. From the Triangulum Collab series with brewers Gold Dot and 21st Amendment.

Time, alas, for the last beer of the weekend. It is a New Beer from a brewery which is definitely not new to me.

Three Floyd's Cocomungo Barrel-aged Coconut Stout

Opaque black-brown body which reveals a deep burnt umber color at the edges. An aggressive pour raises a thin cap of biscuit brown foam, which vanishes in the short time between pouring the beer and putting the bottle back in the fridge. The nose is full of chocolate, coconut, and booze (in that order), and it warns me this is going to be an extremely sweet sip.

Yep, the nose did not lie. The beer leads with a comically sweet combo of chocolate, caramel, bourbon, and graham crackers. Coconut follows, and it's tasty but rather mellow after the opening salvo of flavors. A toasted hazelnut note comes through as the sweetness peaks. It is shadowed by a powerful alcohol burn. There's more coconut in the bourbon-heavy finish, along with some roasted malt, char, and burnt marshmallows.

The body is thick and luxurious, with biting carbonation and beaucoup alcohol heat.

At first I was disappointed in the strength of the coconut in this beer. I was hoping for a level of coconut flavor comparable to the near-overwhelming coffee in Crushing Mass stout (also from Three Floyds). Halfway through the bottle, however, I came to appreciate the quality of the flavor that was there and admire the restraint with which it was displayed. Cocomungo would be a much better beer if the sweetness and alcohol presence showed similar restraint and some semblance of balance. (Yes, I understand that restraint and balance are not necessarily on-brand for Three Floyds.)
