Good evening and good morning to all you Advocates! It seems to be spring in the northern hemisphere and sun here and there and flowers everywhere, we give thanks! Also for good beer— hope you will share an old favorite or a new favorite—

I’m having an Irish Red Ale from Reuben's Brews in Seattle. Aroma is nothing special, but hints of cereal. Flavor starts our slightly sweet with a tangy note, then darker and roasted. Hints of walnuts, toast, and more malt. Mouthfeel is splendid, creamy, mouth-filling. If I've had a better Irish Red, I don't know when. If more of them were as well-made as this, it would be a popular style. Especially at such a modest ABV. Dated 02/11/26

Thank You @Prager62 ! Enjoyed hitting the game with my brother today, and it was interesting watching the pitch shapes from that angle, especially unobstructed during warmups. Usually watch behind the first base dugout, so that is my favorite in terms of seeing it cross the plate for RHH. Only complaint was limited beer options, hence the three Ultras, but probably for the best.

Thank you @mactrail for the open today. Have a few pages left to enjoy reading through yesterday with my resumption of older cellar beer enjoyment.

Also enjoyed in listening to the one plus OT win for Vegas! One more to advance, same as Montreal, with two to play.

This one seems pretty malty and harsh, but hopefully further warming or me growing accustomed will improve this before I hit my second sleep after a post ball game nap.

Jackie O’s XX Anniversary Barrel - Aged Blend.

Pretty outstanding, thick mouthfeel, incredibly smooth and tasty, very flavorful. The kind of beer in this style many American brewers can nail.

Cheers, and thanks again Dave / Blogjackets.

Have a good Thursday. I fell asleep around 7PM yesterday and my wife had to put my dinner in the fridge. Finishing up Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar by Simon Sebag Montefiore: still 4.25/5, very personal account of his relationships vs the Stephen Kotkin books. Third Kotkin book is coming out this year. Read volume 2 in January.

I got called for another local warehouse job that multiple recruiters been emailing me since October. I'm not holding my breath. I will continue to apply to Engineering jobs and keep getting denied. Nobody wants to hire an autodidact that can learn anything they need, just people with 15 years of super specific experience and lovers of company bureaucracy. I'll never answer the "disability" question because even if your BPD and life is improved exponentially, they will pull your Equifax data and see your real history. Still need to get my rheumatoid arthritis or lupus diagnosis at a Rheumatologist, flare ups are like living in hell. Julia is the dream. She actually got job health insurance this year. I am still debating actually explaining my neurodivergence, but likely that will just get my resume thrown away. Never gotten past the HR interview for 95% of the ones I got. :weary:

More sleepy cat pics. I am closing in on 100 books this year. Even in unemployment I keep working on something that means a lot to me  ADHD audiobooks and Chess.com puzzles/lessons lol. Turns out Misty is a he(Graybie on the left side), we changed his name to Stormy lol. So it's 2 males and 3 females in the litter. They run all over the damn house now like a zoomie addiction.

Brouwerij Huyghe Delirium Nocturnum. Been a long time since I had this, but glad the half liter cans are out there now. TIL they have a BB julian date. Probably a year from canning. BB 1/6/2027. I got out the Tremens glass, needed to clean it out with soap. Incredible as usual. Big yeast fruitiness balanced by caramel, toasted biscuit, and light cocoa/coffee malts. Light bitter and spicy yeast finish. Lingering hop/yeast dryness. No cloying. Minimal warming 8.5%. I'll pick up tremens at total wine soon.

    Cheers

...after a busy morning of updating the BA database, it's time for an early morning bold beer along with an early morning wood fire (to keep the ongoing Front Range cold and damp weather at bay)...also catching up with reviewing some new-to-me beers from Bayou Teche Brewing from last week...

Pondaseta Brewing Company / Bare The Mark -- Vantablack
Double Cascadian dark ale aged for 24 months in Willet Bourbon barrels
    ABV: 12.67%; pouring temperature: 41.9 °F; canning info: n/a
    Source: Tavour

    4.02/5 rDev 0%
    look: 3.75 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Clear, dark brown pour, appears black and opaque in the glass; thin, light tan head, more substantial inner ring, lasting. Rich, dark roasted malt nose infused with notes of bourbon and barrel wood. Bold dark India pale ale taste coupled with a distinct whiskey flavor. Medium-heavy body; robust boozy heat; light residual sugar stickiness.

A generally fine beer, this barrel aged Cascadian dark ale clearly wears its barrel aging on its sleeve up front. While one of the base beer listings describe it as an imperial dark IPA, I'm sure it's the bourbon barrel aging that is responsible for the majority of the beer's listed ABV. It's there! Not quite 'in your face' yet it maintains an unmistakable presence when drinking this beer. Personally, I love this as it combines an oh so rare black IPA with an intense bourbon quality. Good stuff if you like dark ales and whiskey!

Hello BAs. Another crisp and partly sunny day here. Nice to see @Shanex enjoying some American beers from the generous @Blogjackets .. Well done! There are so many flippin' beers that it's crazy isn't it?! Even with rising costs I still want my beer. Junkyard Uncle Chuck's Czech Pilsner
Bright, very nice potato bread dough notes with a hint of dill, light orchard and resin/zest in the finish. I love it! Cheers!:beers:

Today, it's still cool but beautiful outside, out here in McGregor--and both cats Gracie and Sundae were curious as to what today's new beers would be: First, with Sundae, my first experience from Christchurch, New Zealand's Renaissance Brewing Company--their 6% Voyager IPA...

    Poured...

More in a second! Cheers, from McGregor! =)

Next, also with Sundae, my ninth brew from Toronto's Mascot Brewery--their 4.9% New English Amber Lager...

    Poured...

Finally, with Gracie, my fourth libation from Thunder Bay's Sleeping Giant Brewing Co.--their 5.6% Port Arthur's Fog Earl Grey Pale Ale...

Later, I'm going to be leading an outing of my Monthly Dinner Outing Group (our 10-year anniversary is this upcoming August!) to The Cookie Bar, where the now-closed Mamo Burger, easily the best burger in town, will be catering, so while I wait for my order (I always take my dinner, and one for my lady Pamela, home to dine with her), I may discover a flight of new beer experiences from the finest Ontarian breweries, so stay tuned!

Have a great rest of your day, and cheers...from The Responsible Beer Drinking Club! =)
