Sextuple from Hoppin' Frog. A Belgian-style strong dark ale. 16.4% ABV.

Poured from a tiny can at fridge temp. Pours a dark brown with a thin layer of head. The nose is Cherries, plums, red wine, dark malts, molasses, brown sugar.

The taste is fantastic. Not too boozy, but the ABV isn't completely hidden. Prunes, sherry, dark malts, blackberries, molasses, and a bit of candy. It definitely tastes like a strong Belgian dark ale. Very nice and glad that it's a small can.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a nice fruity aftertaste. Great stuff.

    Well Hello All,

May your glasses be never empty during NBW.
I am a little tardy to popping this one. I actually sent a BIG BOX to my brother @hophound and he tried it before me. He liked it a lot.
Tiki Sour: Rum BA Escape To Fantasy Island

I feel this is a very "outside the box" beer. BA sour, gluten free, etc...
And I am not generally a sour guy. But I liked this one.

Pretty color, for a pineapple juice/urine sample combo. I know that sounds snide but it actually is a pretty color Gold to yellow. Almost no foam. Low retention. No lacing.
Aroma kicks off with a vibrant, ginger tinged pineapple/mango with a not of almost floral key lime zest.
Flavor is quite straight forward. Pineapple and mango base with a lime/ginger kicker. Very tasty.
Mouthfeel is the right heft but carbonation is low.
Overall, not my usual cup of tea but if I was at a gathering that was cocktail focused (sans beer) I would include this in my repertoire for the evening.

New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Sweet Ride Juicy IPA ( should've heeded the warning ), 6.5% ABV; 3.37 overall

Pours a barely hazed straw/gold with one finger of pearl colored head. Above average head retention & lacing, drops bright

S: Melons, guava, passionfruit, plenty of tropical, but based on their track record, I presume some of this is artificial. Giving them benefit the doubt

T: Follows the nose, some white grape & dryness as well, faint citrus notes also up front. Cantaloupe starts to dominate, also some white grape, pretty dry & a bit of passionfruit once warmed up. Finishes dry with super sweet melon & a little white grape, faint hints of actual hops

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, skews too sweet & dry for me. Body also thins out a bit

Not horrible, but not remotely good. Shame on me for buying this

He did a book signing or something along that line at a bookstore in SoCal back in the 90's. I meant to go and didn't. Still regret it.

Listed as an American IPA I found it to be something all-together different...

Liked the orange coloration though there was no head to it, and the smell was very light to my nose. Mouthfeel was medium-bodied with a light tack on the tongue. But what surprised me most was the taste - I found this to be more of a dessert beer - with the sweetness all over the place. The can does say fruited ale, but it's listed as an IPA, all I know is that I was pleasantly surprised...

I got to go to a VIP meet & greet because a pub I used to go to & play on their Trivia team ( Yank Ringer ) gave tickets to the Uley Brewey Fete. The owner heard me say I was going to that year's Great British Beer Festival & he handed me two tickets to the early VIP session. Talk about dumb luck...

Poured from a pint can, the body is a light gold, very clear. The head is a brief small one and disappears rather quickly. No lacing.

Aroma is a funky sour and light citrus. Almost day old wine sourness. Not unpleasant. Light floral notes upon warming.

Taste follow nose. This ale is quite tart, and more tart than sour. The lemongrass serves to balance tartness and is somewhat successful. A vegetal flavor is present and I'll chalk it up to the dandelion. A light waft of sweetness way in the background once warmed.

Mouthfeel is good with light carbonation.

Interesting beer that grew on me as I sampled. Better warm than out of the coolerator.

    Hello again friends!
Today was a day that taught me why I shouldn’t use my table saw out feed surface for storing stuff. It worked out eventually but I was feeling more than a little stupid.
After that fun, my wife and I went out to eat for the first time in months. (She goes out fairly regularly, me, not so much) and we went to a place where there were at least 20 different beers on tap. And I had reviewed them all. Dang it. So I had a second beer today at home, not sure if Bell’s is brewing it again or if it’s from a 5 year old keg. Mox nix, it’s new to me so it counts.
Picked up at the annual All Stouts Day in November of ‘25.
The pour is stout black with a medium brown head that left reasonable lacing.
The taste is coffee (French roast) and very dark chocolate; some burnt toast and some very light sweet from something. The roast is definitely the leading element.
The feel is full, just greater than thin. It has to have some body to it to carry all the flavors. Normally oatmeal provides a smoother texture but not always.
OA, quite a good stout and one that I’d happily drink again.
Tomorrow I might try a classic stout from Bell’s that I have never tried. Brewers licorice, what is that?

Mad rooster Beer Co. ( Fayetteville ) Snuff the rooster Brown Ale, 9.8% ABV; 3.81 overall

Pours an effervescent hazel with one finger of sandy colored head. Some head retention & lacing ; viscous

S: Some toastyness & toffee. Brown sugar dominant late

T: Follows the nose, woody & earthy hops, some brown sugar as well, plus dryness up front. Brown sugar, toastyness, a little booze bite, some oaky notes & woody hoops once warmed up. Finishes a little dry/toasty with woody hops, brown sugar, sassafras, hints of booze & figs

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation. A bit more carbonation once warmer, somewhat warming

I liked this better at the brewery earlier today, not sure if their Crowlers don't bring the goods, but my tastebuds may have been muddled by other beers in the mix. This one could sneak up on you for sure.

I will order this every time I see it on tap

Sensitive King from Supermoon Beer Company in Wisconsin. An Abbey style tripel. 9% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a wonderful orange with an appropriately large amount of fluffy white head. Somewhat opaque beer. The nose is excellent. Banana, wheat, grass, orange, vanilla, and a bit of clove.

The taste is great. Clove, mint, orange, vanilla, banana, slight hop bitterness, grainy, earthy, honey, and a significant dryness. Although this doesn't really come close to some of the best tripels from Belgium, this is a tasty beer.

ONly review for me tonight. Another soccer game tomorrow morning and still more stuff to do to prep for the week ahead. This is Pure Project in San Diego and their Soul Alchemy Imperial Stout. Registers 12.6% aged in bourbon barrels and features some toasted coconut in the brew. I picked this up at the brewery on my San Diego beer run during March Madness weekend. @Beersnake these guys seem to really nail their imperial stouts, amirite?

    Onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into a snifter. Batch #1 and bottled on 8/2025. Thank you for label info!!
Picked up at the brewery about a month and a half ago.
The beer pours a jet black coffee color and even seems thick leaving the bottle. A little bit of frothy tan bubbling resorts quickly to a thin, yet dense edging. This sticks around as wire thin through sampling. Not lattice, but definitely some red wine legs on this beverage when I sip or swirl. Looks pretty thick in the glass.
Aroma is pretty much as expected with some dark chocolate fudge, hints of coconut and a healthy dose of bourbon. No hop character on the nose and the booze isnt fusol or hot at this point.
First sip reveals a smoother texture than anticipated, still pretty thick body , but not as sticky. Carbonation is fine and mild, not much going there.
Flavor is what the nose advertises. I get dark fudge, mixed with bourbon and some dark fruit like prunes. Finish definitely has some warming heat on the swallow and lightly sweet coconut lingers after each swallow. Again, no hops appear to have been harmed in the making of this beer.
Ive enjoyed what I have had from Pure Project and would gladly drink this beer again.
