Social Project Brewing On the Nature of Daylight Double Hazy IPA w/Nectaron & Galaxy Quantum hops, 7.9% ABV; 4.46 overall

Pours a very hazed gold with a thumb of pearl colored head. Above average head retention & good lacing

    S: Fairly dank smelling

T: Catty, some melons, white grapes & peaches, plus dryness up front. Some pomelo sneaks in behind the weediness & dryness, a little green melon as well once this beer is warmer, some pine. Finishes with a bit of melon, peach, & pomelo & plenty of cattyness, plus a little white grape & dryness

MF: Medium body, creamy carbonation, skews bitter but in very good way

    Nice bitter/weedy IPA, so crushable

My last beer of the weekend, and a New Beer to boot.

    Vice Dancing With The Tsars
Russian imperial stout for the 8th anniversary of Bridge & Tunnel taproom and bottle shop in Astoria, OR.

Clear brown-black body with ruby highlights and a rocky head of tan foam that shows good retention and leaves lacing like a Roger Dean album cover. The nose is a simple combination of dark chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel, with a worrying buttery component.

The flavor has a lot more depth than the nose. There's bittersweet dark chocolate up front, followed by espresso, dark roasted malt, plums, Tootsie Rolls, and a trailing hint of caramel. The sweetness is well balanced by the coffee and roasted malt character. I'm happy to say the taste shows no sign of the buttery note in the nose. The finish is more dark chocolate, prunes, mixed dried fruit, burnt brown sugar, and suffers a bit from an obtrusive alcohol note.

Medium-heavy body with a frankly gorgeous velvety texture. Finishes with alcohol that's warm but not hot (which is good, considering the beer weighs in a hair below 10%).

This is a solid Russian imperial stout from a brewery whose clever beer names are sometimes better than the beers themselves. Good work, Vice Beer. Glad I grabbed this one.

E9 - Browns Point Cascadian Dark Ale

16oz can served in a stemless rastal. Can is dated 02/27/2026.

Pours dark mahogany red-brown with a fairly large khaki head. Moderate active carbonation. Seems translucent...just on the super dark side of amber or the super light side of porter. Smell is nice...light coffee, nuts and toffee, bitter pine.

Taste follows, douses everything in coffee but cannot shake the pine. Ever had pine sol in your coffee? Doesn't sound great on the face of it, but this beer makes me want to try it.

Mouthfeel is light with a bit of a cling to it. Very nice beer.

Castle Rock Kölsch from Icicle Brewing in Leavenworth, Wash.

Lively and sharp on the tongue with the usual light body. Aroma is rather bold with alfalfa and a touch of orange peel. It's quite dry with just a little malt. Tastes of grapes with a little cereal and club soda finish. This is yet another non-standard American Kölsch and I don't think it would be on my favorites list, but it's quite interesting and totally drinkable.
