What beer are you drinking now? #4945

Sounds like the brewery applied wine-storage advice. With wine you're supposed to lay it down to keep the cork wet, preventing the cork from shrinking and oxidizing the wine. With beer, it's advised to store it standing up to avoid sediment sticking to the cork and contaminating the beer.

That said, last year I had a corked beer from the 90's which had been stored standing up, and the cork had dried out and it crumbled when I tried removing it. I had to strain the beer to avoid drinking cork.

 

In my hotel, killing time until going to my next brewery. This is the 2.25% version of Egils Pilsner — like I said yesterday, here in Iceland you can only get beer up to 2.25% at grocery and convenience stores.

Good morning BAdvocates. Just finished setting up an online IRS account. No more paper checks so if you want your refund you must have a computer. Of course they use some third party verification which makes things even more frustrating.

After all that I need a beer! I’m now drinking my final beer from that Hop Valley Mix Six. This Citrus Mistress is my favorite out of the three brews despite its age. One of the better IPAs I’ve had all year.
