I've been writing place reviews (the artist formally known as 'beerfly') for 20 something years now, so... My profile shows 47 states, but it's really 46 states and the DoC, so I'm 4 states shy of all 50. I'd taken notes for the Dakotas, I just need to get them out of my little scribble book of crazy (shown in my avatar pic to the left) into a word doc for fact & sanity checking, and then posted. That will take me up to 48 states and the DoC. Don't see myself getting out to the non-continentals anytime soon although the Alaskan Barleywine Festival (laughingly) calls my name.

As for my opinion, defunct breweries most certainly count. Just wish a few of the Sasnak & MO breweries (Barristers, Norsemen, Pathlight, etc.) weren't defunct.....
I am sure I had some in Galveston, but maybe not, peak Covid, butt Texas, like Arkansas got over it quickly as far as restrictions go

I've been to breweries in 47 of the lower 48, haven't been to ND or DC yet... 2 more years and with just a little luck, I should get to 51...
Added Louisiana to my list, as I visited two of the Abita locations, one being the current production brewery, the other being the original production brewery which is now the brewpub. If it were closer, I would have loved to visit Parish Brewing Company | Broussard, LA | Beers | BeerAdvocate, as I've drank at least half a dozen of their beers and not one was less than excellent. All hazy IPAs, mind you, but all very, very good, IMHO.
