My 113th beer from The Bruery. Spontanaheim - bottled in 2019. A spontaneously fermented sour blonde ale aged in oak barrels. 5.8% ABV.

2019 bottle opened in 2026. Pours a nice murky orange with white head that dissipates quickly. The nose is awesome. Peaches, apricot, sour patch kids, lemon sour candy.

The taste is really good. Sour as hell. Sour patch kids, lemon heads, apricot, earth, grass, malts, and a bit of vanilla. Really nice.

The mouthfeel is light bodied with a funky and sour aftertaste.

Late night before my overnight pour, as the Metra train connection didn’t work so stopping at The Beer Temple for a couple. This one I tried during a BA Meetup with Eric and Charlie, and thus did not rate it, but I have a chance to now. Thought it tasted like a flat warm pilsner, so hoping this fresh take improves it for me.

Full review linked above. Bottom line this is listed by The Beer Temple as a pub ale, listed here as an English Pale Mild Ale, and to me tastes like a Pilsner on cask, though this go around was much more pleasant and glad I revisited now, and now that it’s the house beer here, likely down the road.

My remaining pour or pours here will be returning favorites, but may return when the BA clock strikes Pacific Coast Midnight for a night cap.

Highly fragrant with fruit, flowers, and cut grass. Mouthfeel is light and lively. Moderate bitterness with a winey finish. Quite citrus flavored with lemon peel and grapefruit in the aftertaste. Resiny and then a deep peachy dark taste with stems and seeds. Seems like too much of a good thing, but certainly interesting. Moderately sweet and the fruit never ends. Hops: Simcoe, Mosaic, and dry-hopped with Abstrax Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, Nectarine & Nelson.

Ikinuki, a smoked Amber Lager from Godspeed Brewery

From a 355ml can packaged on Jan 12, 2026. Poured into a pint glass. A one finger light tan head on a clear copper. The head soon diminished to a thin layer.

The smell is light smoke over malts. The taste is malty. The sweetness of the malts is cut by the mild beechwood smoke. A very mild noble hop finish. Although the smoke is light, it does dominate the flavour.

A medium/light body and light carbonation. Overall an excellent smoked Amber lager. Smooth and well balanced. Well worth a try.

Right out of the gate, this has one of the most glorious pours I've ever seen. There is an ultra fluffy cumulus cloud of foam with lasting bits of suds that sit atop the beer making this look more akin to a milk shake or smoothie. Predictably, there is plenty of lacing as it goes down the glass. Scents of catty and citrus hops are available which lead into predominant flavors of grapefruit and orange marmalade. This beer is incredibly soft, viscous, and luscious from top to bottom. When a DIPA nails two of five attributes like this, it's hard to beat. Even considering this isn't my favorite hop combination by any stretch. Just an excellent beer.

    Brauerei Tucher Brau • Tucher Lager Helles • 5.2% ABV • 6/11/25 born-on; 9/11/26 best-by

Fantastic beer and another solid effort by Tucher. This one comes off exactly like a helles should IMO, which is to say it reminds me of a German pilsener with the hops dialed down to a 2 or 3 instead of 7 or 8. That peach kolache bready sweetness opens the flavor followed by a nice little hop bite at the end that lingers, hints of black pepper to go with the dirt/earthy note. The aroma may be the only thing missing here that's keeping it from reaching world class status ... I'd argue it's a bit muted. The level of carbonation is off the charts, keeping it topped by a full 1/3-inch tall head of foam at all times.

So far from Tucher I've tried four versions (my rating FWIW):

    • dunkelweizen (4.07)
    • helles (4.1)
    • pilsner (4.1)
    • rotbier (4.13)

I rated all of them above the average by at least a little, probably b/c I'm a sucker for all things German lager. And I make no apologies. I honestly have enjoyed them and will look out for more of their stuff.

    Cheers!

The Brew Society • Martha Quad • Belgian strong dark ale • 12% ABV • April 8, 2027 best-by date

Took a punt on this one and wow ... very happy I did. I was looking to buy a big ol' Belgian quad and got it here. It's dark but not overly so in that quadlike way, fruitcake, figs, raisins, chocolate both dark and milk, cocoa powder, lighter hints of caramel or dark caramel and even tinier hints of coffee. It's getting sweeter as I get into it, but there's a wall of earthy/spicy hops that you run into midswallow that keeps it from being a cloyingly sweet muck and mess ... really reminds you that it's a beer, not chocolate milk. :stuck_out_tongue:

I've never heard of this brewery, but I gotta say now that I have, consider me interested. And if I can find more of this beer, I might sneak a couple into my fridge for down the road. Very good stuff if you're into quads and Belgian strong darks.

Poured from a twelve ounce can, the body is black with little head and no lacing.

Aroma is a bit boozy and is a delightful mix of apple brandy, oak and vanilla.

Taste follows nose with an added chocolate malt that pairs well with the brandy. A touch of alcohol swallow, but it is not hot. Warming brings added depth with chocolate, fig and raisin notes.

At first mouthfeel is medium to heavy. As it warmed, mouthfeel began to get sticky but not cloyingly sweet. Little carbonation.

Another fine sipper from Athens, Ohio.

Packaged March 26, enjoyed on May 10th, 2026 - poured from a pint can into my Dogfish Head shaped pint glass.

Misty amber body with a fat mesa of stiff peaks. Thick rocky lacing; superior retention.

Dank, citrus-laden, faintly tropical aroma - potent and inviting.

Flavors of lemon-lime, grapefruit zest, and forest floor are joined with a moderate bitterness and lightly sweet malt. Medium-dry, slightly grassy finish. Well balanced if somewhat generic/subdued.

Medium-light bodied, good carbonation, slightly sticky yet still refreshing.

Well crafted and satisfying example of the style.

    new beer, new brewery

Brought this back from st Martin , bought it at Super U. Great French supermarket where you can buy beer singles . Perfect for a beer ticker

Brewers notes : Lupulus is a blonde ale with an alcohol proof of 8,5 %, refermented in champagne bottles and in casks. The choice not to filter the beer, as well as not to pasteurize it ensures its taste and aromatic quality.
The use of hops in considerable quantities, gives this liquid gold a freshness and an incomparable bouquet. Store this beer, as it ought to be, next to your beloved Grand-Cru and serve at a temperature between 8 and 12°C (46,4 and 53,6°F). You'll be delighted !

Chilled bottle poured into a prentitious beer glass

Hazy straw colored liquid with a ridiculously large white foam head with great staying power , some decent lacings

Aroma is hoppy, straw, hay , whiff of orange rind

Taste on first sip is slightly tart but the taste improves as the glass warms, becomes slightly sweet, hoppy , wine/ champagne , funky …this beer improves at it warms

Slight bubbliness , boozy but no heat 8.5% abv

    Good beer

got a drone for my birthday, that’s Duxbury on the left , Plymouth bay in the middle and England in the distance.

I got a large haul from Treehouse Deerfield yesterday. This is Galaxy All Ways, Part One, Tasmania. Here is the brewery's description-
(Double IPA, 7.8% ABV, 16oz.) The magic of terroir—the environmental conditions, especially soil and climate, in which hops are grown and give a hop their unique flavor and aroma—continues to enthrall us at Tree House. The Many Ways series sheds light on this magic. For this rendition, we’ve taken bucket loads of Galaxy grown exclusively by our friends at Hop Products Australia in their Tasmanian hop garden, Bushy Park Estates. Bushy Park Estates has a storied hop-growing lineage stretching back over 150 years. This reliability produces incredible Galaxy, showcased here with notes of underripe pineapple, lemon-lime, and earthy citrus, with a tongue-coating tropical hop oil finish. Tasmania stands as a beacon of untamed beauty in an increasingly

Purchased cold at the Deerfield brewery yesterday and kept cold until served. Poured from a 16oz can stamped “LONG DAYS AND PLEASANT NIGHTS 04.30.26” to a nonic.
The body is opaque and light yellow, SRM 1. A little off-putting actually. The 1/2in/15mm head is bright white, thick and lasting, made of bubbles small enough to give a whipped cream appearance. The head fades slowly to a 1mm layer. Lacing is elegant evenly spaced rings, all the way to the last drop.
The aroma on pour is a strong version of an uncut pineapple. In the glass lemon and lime rind dominate.
The taste is nicely bitter with rind-like flavors dominating. Pineapple sneaks through but low-key. The finish is really dry, but welcome.
The mouthfeel is medium thick, for a hazy, carbonation is appropriate.
This beer is a nice way to learn about Galaxy. However, without other versions in front of you, how can you judge terroir?

Martin House Mango Mochi Sour Ale w/ Mango, Vanilla, Rice & Lactose, 8.0% ABV; 3.51 overall

Pours an effervescent gold with a thumb+ of cream-colored head. Minimal head retention & lacing

S: Mango & peach, not much of a nose

T: Follows the nose, some dryness, vanilla as well up front. Tart & sweet mango, peaches, vanilla as this beer warms. Finishes dry with sweet mango, apricots, & vanilla

MF: Medium body & slight carbonation, some acidity, sticks to the teeth

Mango isn't really my jam as a featured ingredient, but this has decent drinkability

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Sippers and commentators. And thank you, @jonphisher, for hosting this week. When I think back on my senior prom I recall my debonair powder blue tux with darker blue piping on the lapels. I was stylish in the '70's.

I'm happy that we've been receiving Bottle Logic distro. Their Stouts are amazing! I like everything about them except the price point, which is eating into my kids' inheritance. Today it is Jam the Radar, an Imperial Raspberry Stout aged in Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrels. This is good stuff!

2026 release. Poured at 57°. It is an oily black. The dark mocha head fizzled away almost immediately. It has a delightful smell featuring chocolate, coffee, caramel, and fresh raspberry. Initially, the taste is very sweet with syrupy, ripe raspberry over rich, dark chocolate and earthy malt. The Buffalo Trace Bourbon notes are surprisingly subtle. However, as the Stout breathes in the glass the raspberry becomes more tart and blends better with the other flavors. It has a pleasant mouth feel - not overly viscous, and the elevated ABV (this vintage is 14%) is well-hidden. Overall, as I would expect from Bottle Logic, Jam the Radar is very well crafted and flavorful. It is very much raspberry-forward and I would not recommend it to someone who doesn't like that flavor.

Lazy Days North End Oregon Pilsner

Enjoyed straight out the can, @Resistance88 style, so I can't say anything about the appearance. The nose has some clean, grainy malt and a burst of zesty citrus. The flavor is quite dry, with a crackery malt character. The malt flavor is light, but it persists through the impressive bitterness that follows. Notes of lemon peel, grapefruit pith, pine resin, and a tantalizing woody character underneath. Light body, slightly overcarbonated, quenching finish. I think I've found my new go-to beer on hot and humid match days. And proceeds from every pint go to the Gisele Currier Scholarship Fund, a popular and worthy charity. To borrow the tagline of Ex Novo Brewing: "Drink beer, do good."

Looks like I'll be adding this beer to the BA database shortly...
