@LeRose quoting (nearly) Jethro Tull is a great reminder that I’ve not listened to that album this year yet. Must fix that.
But we are not here to discuss music (unless your beer makes you break into song) - no, we are here to discuss beers new to us.
This is another one that I’ve had before, but it was a 4 oz pour at the brewery which was closely followed by a few other samples which meant specifics were lost. But they sold me a can or two, this is one.

Need to add it to the database, it’s not there yet. No matter, we’ll do this one live.
The pour is dark, not the darkest I’ve seen but darker than most imperial stouts I see. The light brown head leaves rings of lacing.
The taste is roasty! Not quite bitter and nowhere near sweet, this features French roast coffee and charred malts. If there is chocolate in this it gave up the fight and slipped into nothingness.
The feel is full, not viscous, just enough body to carry all the roastyness. (Yes, I’m making up words.)
OA, Arvon should work with Kosmicki more often, this is really nice.
    Cheers all!

I use roasty, so roastyness seems permitted in my world

Martin House Coconut Pete Imp Stout w/Peanut Butter & Coconut Flavoring, 10.0% ABV; 3.25 overall

Pours a ruddy ebony with one finger of tan head. some head retention & lacing

S: Plenty of peanuts & coconut, seems forced/fake

T: Follows the nose, a bit roasty , some iron notes & dryness up front. Hints of coffee & booze mix in with the coconut & peanut butter once this beer is warmer. Finishes boozy with plenty of fake flavors & a bit of base beer

MF: Medium body, semi assertive carbonation. Carbonation flattens out a bit once warmer, fairly warming once warmed up

Just tastes like a base Imp Stout with artificial flavors added at the last second, not a one off for these guys. I honestly wouldn't buy most of their stuff if they weren't singles. Not a chore to finish, but close. Would like to try the base beer, bet it is better

Last beer post for me here. Thanks to @jonphisher for the kickoff. Gonna make this quicker as Im hoping to get a Daredevil episode in , Im behind, so no spoilers please!

This is Barreled SOuls and their Black Bombs over Barley. A 14.3% barleywine aged in smoke wagon bourbon and jamaican rum barrels.

    Onto my review:

Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into my snifter. Picked up at the brewery last August and has been in my cellar since then. Bottled on 6/30/2025.
The beer pours a dark black coffee color with no light passing through my glass. Much darker pour than I expected to be honest.
A dense creamy head of 1.5 cm foams up and gradually fades to a sturdy edging layer , I get dense clingy lattice when I swirl the glass or take a sip. Sort of sticky legs like a merlot slide down the glass behind the lattice.
Aroma is a mix of malt character with dark chocolate and fudge mixing with raisins and some sweet bourbon. I do get a little bit of rum note and some brown sugar. Nose tends to be sweeter side, but isnt cloying or candylike. No hop character here and its not particularly boozy on the nose either.
First sip reveals a medium body with very fine and tingly carbonation, only lightly sticky texture and the beer drinks pretty easy. A little coating on my palate after each sip and hints of warming on the swallow too. So definitely some warnings of the higher octane of this beer!
FLavor is what the nose advertised, again malt forward with some chocolate covered raisin and toffee notes mixing with a little bourbon and some sweeter rum, and hints of charred wood and a little roast too. No fusol bitey flavor and no hop character here either. Are there any hops in this beer?
This is quite tasty , I am glad the rum isnt overpowering, as its not my favorite booze. This has a prett complex and well working flavor profile, and Im sure the ABV is going to sneak up on me by the end of the bottle. Id drink this one again.
    4.35 in the BA DB

Trellishead IPA from Varietal Beer in the Yakima Valley

Wonderful fruity aroma with melon, honeysuckle, and the whole garden. Flavors are on the high side of the scale with sharp and clean fruit flavors. Tastes of papaya, mango, orange Nehi, and green melon. I haven't had a beer from Varietal for a while, and I'm delighted at how good this one is. No idea how old it is but tastes utterly fresh. Hops are Amarillo, Cascade, Citra, Mosaic, Mosaic, and Columbus.

I've decided not to open the BA imperial stout I had in mind. It was conditioned on vanilla and cacao nibs, and that's not what I'm in the mood for.

So instead I'm ending the weekend with a can of Revolution Straight Jacket. Not a New Beer to me, but a damn tasty one, and no lie. See y'all next weekend!

I nominate @Whyteboar for Prom King. He likes stouts, and so do I, so he is exactly the kind of Prom King I would vote for.

Also, speaking of stouts, he sent me some Expedition Stout and other tasty items. While this in no way qualifies as a bribe, it certainly adds to the intangibles that separate a great Prom King from a field of candidates.

    Fremont - Hazeltine

16oz can served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Can is dated 04/28/26. Bought a single at the Columbia City location about a week ago.

Pours hazy light amber, huge fluffy head with clumpy remains as it decays slowly, lots of carbonation. Smell is citrus and citrus pith, moderate dankness, lots of pine.

Taste is similar, a bit more on the juicy side, but still not falling into the sweet category. Pith and zest are quite dominant, a bit more dankness.

Mouthfeel is big but not heavy, slightly chalky. Very nice IPA.
