I love our Chicagoland and the greater Great Lakes forum on here, and was wondering, has there ever been a beer advocate gathering in Chicago? Is there someone on here who has a connection to Hopleaf, Beer Temple or someplace that would be willing to host a get together of BAs that could have some nice options on tap and/or allow a bottle share? I think it would be fun to meet you all in person!
Beer Temple does a beer meetup monthly already & allows bottle sharing...pretty sure @pudgym29 goes. That said, I'd be down & don't really need / care about the bottle share, just getting together is enough for me. Revolution has a HUGE space we could use, Beer Temple has tons of space as long as it's a weeknight, & I'm sure there are plenty of other spots that fit the bill.
I agree with not needing a bottle share. Plus that would make us better advocates by supporting a local beer centric business. I'm more than ok doing a week night too even as a suburbanite. Anyone live in the city who could swing by and ask about it? I would but not sure when the next time I will be in
I would be interested. We did a few BA Crawls downtown. We also used to have an annual German Bar Crawl through St. Bens and Lincoln Square. I even remember a meet-up at the Lunar in the very early BA days. We are overdue!
Official Beer Advocate or just a gathering of forumers? I know there used to be regular meetups(monthly) of forum members at Forbidden Root with bottle share back in the nascent days of Chicago hazy IPAs, maybe circa 2017/18…
Could think about meeting up at the Dovetail Maifest, Memorial Day Wknd… https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/posts/8371173/
