Last cross post of the week with the 2026 Cellar Review Thread before transitioning to new to me Weekend Beers. This is my favorite BA release from Revolution in part because nobody else makes this style, or at least like they do available here, and I love it.

Revolution Brewery Ryeway to Heaven (Canned 11/20/20 @1:58:56 PM)

Cellar review link here. WBAYDN treatment, drank a bit harsh with a fresh cold sip, but has settled in nicely as it properly warms to the excellence I expect, even five and a half years later.

Straight to the dome, BA. And this is probably the freshest Pale Ale I’ve ever had from Sierra Nevada - with a bottling date of March/11/26. Normally bottles are at least 3 months old (if you’re lucky), but usually even older. Cheers to you and your Friday:

Leffe Blonde, the plain Jane yet good.

    Cheers.

@ChicagoJ - Forgot to reply to your question yesterday. I haven’t looked into it but I don’t know if Lagunitas IPA only beer I find here is contract brewed by Heineken in Europe or just is shipped from the US.

More SNPA to the dome, BA. And these are special bottles that highlight our National Park’s wild land and its species. So drinking this beer is altruistic. Cheers!

    Good morning BA
My last go big early post for the foreseeable future. I'm back to dayshift next week. Having a bock with a side of Tennessee whiskey sounded delightful after a 14 hour overnight shift.

Greetings from Basel! I’ve got about 18 hours here between when my train got here and when my flight leaves early in the morning. It’s a lovely city but I’ve had mixed experience, beer-wise: the first brewery I went to had the doors open and a taproom, but was deserted and eventually a staff member walked out of the back and told me they are closed :sob:

The second place I went was a place called “Drinks of the World” in the main train station which is a great bottle shop. Wide selection, very well organized, just a solid place — not expecting that in the train station! Anyway, I have some time to kill before the next brewery I want to attempt even opens, so I bought a few 330mL cans to tide me over until then.

The first is Falken Stammhaus, which is a damn good kellerbier for something I bought in the train station.

Good day BAs! Thanks @ChicagoJ for opening the bar! At my house, a four-pack of Ryeway to Heaven will last about four days, if my self-control is functioning. Five years requires super-human self control!

@flagmantho, I've never been to the train station in Basel, but the the train station in Zurich had a good beer shop as well.

    Today's Breakfast Beer, a favorite:

    G'day all!

I'm sipping on this Hazy IPA from Alvarado. Acquired from Good Times Oakland as part of their beer of the month club. Canned April 22nd.

Grapefruit citrus, orange peel, tropical fruit and a level of dankness that is outside my comfort zone.

    Prost!

So, I was just looking at the reviews for Drinks of the World and one review said exactly the same thing — that Zürich train station has an outstanding bottle shop as well. I am disappointed to be finding this out now, because I was in Zürich the last 2 days and went to the train station 3 times :joy::sob:

I’ll just have to convince my wife we need to come back to Switzerland together … gonna be a hard sell, I’m sure.

Next up is Egger Beer Maximus, brewed by Swiss brewery Locher. It seems this brand has been around the block, but in any case is currently brewed by Locher, who seem to make most of the convenience-store quality beers in Switzerland. This is …. no exception.

But hey, at least the bathroom of my hotel room has a window that opens with an interesting view! :joy:

OK, last up of my Train Station Trio™ is Calanda Edelbräu, brewed by that noted craft maverick Heineken Switzerland. It … yeah, is a mediocre macro lager, and I won’t even finish this little can.

So, at the train station, the store had way better beers than what I chose, but I was limiting myself to what they had that was:

    1. Swiss
    2. Cold
    3. 330mL serving size

That did admittedly reduce my options quite a bit. But hey, to advocate for beer, you have to be open to trying anything, yeah?

Happy Friday BA, I will try to be happy. I took my car to the dealership yesterday and sat in there for 4 hours, and it's getting fixed and tested today. Needs new lower control arms and bushings and front brakes to pass state safety inspection. More credit use to be done today. The landlord came in with the tow trucks as promised the same day, so at least I don't get to pay hundreds of dollars for no reason since your landlord is a POS. So after I got brought home by the dealership shuttle I fell asleep last night all night. Woke up to clean up all of the cat boxes, the kittens are unbearable now.

Finally finished Inventing the Renaissance by Ada Palmer: 4.25/5 Pretty funny and lighthearted history, and pretty challenging with a lot of information of 15 different people that defined the era, and plenty of insight into the idea of progress, and the comparisons to modern day history. 30 hours and I finished it in 2 days, including sitting in the dealership yesterday playing chess.

Quick 2 hour audiobook now is Behaving Ourselves: David Mitchell on Manners: 4/5 Funny and insightful audiobook on manners in the UK, and the influence of social media causing people to become worse to people online because you don't have to be face to face with the person and disregard any empathy about how they feel, and also easier to have a misunderstanding about things. It is just a bunch of interviews with a bunch of different people, from laypersons to experts on psychology.

Next up is The Life of Greece by Will Durant. 33 hours and due in less than 2 days. If it's anything like The Age of Voltaire, I'll have it done before It's due.

3/29/2026 canned New Belgium Juice Force. Always love it. Super juicy and smooth for 9.5%. Mosaic, Chinook, Phato, Galaxy, Strata, Lotus, and Sabro hops.

I don't know why Warner Bros Discovery chose to put their UK/Ireland TNT Sports coverage of the Giro d'Italia on Tru TV for three weeks, but at this stage of life I will take any miracles I can get.
I spent last week with friends at a lake cabin. They offered to buy the beer, so Michelob Amberbock and Yuengling Traditional Lager it was.

B to the A!! Let's get the weekend rolling here with some beer!
@RaulMondesi happy you rcv'd somewhat fresh SNPA. It dawns on me that the freshest SN beer that I've "domed" has beer Celebration IPA...and just this past season. I think 5 or 6 wks is the freshest date I've had for their Pale Ale. That beer has practically saved my life more than once. Chrome home to the foam dome!!
The Les DeWitt lawn looks like a million bucks after the chop and gorgeous rain yesterday and the PBR Grillo's Pickle Beer paired perfectly with a gigantic hamburger. So, thirsty am I once again, temp of 86F forecasted for today, and this beer is the ticket for this run-on post...Miller Lite :beers:
