I know that we Advocates shouldn't technically pour beer down the drain. Serious crime, right? That said, a lot of us will eventually come to the point where we just can't drink a beer that sucks. Here's my drain pour from this evening. Kuhnhenn The Unyielding Ale. This is a golden quadruple ale at over 17% ABV. This ended up being WAY too boozy. A sharp and harsh alcohol burn. I just couldn't finish the bottle. I tried.

What was your last drain pour?

Pretty much any beer I open as "i can have one last beer" and fall asleep on the couch immediately after sitting down.

Drain pour in the morning. Nothing against the beer.

This was me last night. I left a quarter glass of Summerfest at around 10pm and finished it around 2am after a nap.

To @Beersnake 's post, it's rare that I drain pour a beer. But if I do at some point, I now have a place to document it. Cheers!

I dont have one but it would have been the PBR Pickle. I really struggled to finish the 6 pack. Should have drained poured it but I didnt.

Two beers from Dovetail-Vienna Lager and Rauchbier. Both styles I enjoy, from a brewery Ive never tried but had very high expectations for. Both had a slightly tart finish-the Vienna lager a bit on the sweet side but also slightly more aggressive in the bittering hop dept. Rauchbier having a more tannic, sour dryness along with some burnt rubber. Rauchbier could’ve used a bit more smoke but I imagine that would’ve only increased the unpleasant phenols. After reading some reviews here, I’m not the only one picking up on these flaws and some are from last year so it doesn’t seem to be an isolated incident.

Grimbergen Rouge, so an attempt at a fruity (berries) beer from the normally respected brewery ended up in the sink. Cough syrup, bad mouthfeel. Bad overall.

Evil Twin/Westbrook collab OFYMD Maple Bourbon BA Imperial Stout, 12.8% ABV. I rated this 3.85 two weeks ago, and that was generous. Not having had this fresh I can't say for sure, but based on other reviews it seems to have fallen off since 2020. I drank half of the bomber before dumping it.

I've gotten more liberal with my drain pours. I need to taper off my drinking by about 8PM to avoid reflux, since I go to bed early. If the beer has been going down slowly because I'm not digging it, out it goes. As far as total drain pour from the start, I'll always drink enough to review it. Sometimes I'll dump a beer if I get regretting that I hadn't grabbed one of my favorites.

I just started a thread called Drain Pours (2026)

I had a can of Peanut Butter Milk Stout from Left Hand Brewing hanging out in the fridge. TBH, I mostly got it to try and see what it tasted like, it wasn't bad but just not something I wanted to finish. Had a couple gulps and poured the rest.

This has happened to me at times. Fruited beers that end up as cough syrup - such a bummer

I haven't drainpoured in a while... the closest was a tasteless oxidized can of Three Roads Comet Surfer DIPA (10ABV) a couple weeks ago. One month old. I thought my whole 4 pack was gonna be trash, but had another in the pack that was just fine.

    The day was 3/25/26.
It was a day to clear out the beer fridge crisper of accumulated duds
I had a competition for what might still be tasty and if they all just sucked

Never. I am too cheap, & not a quiter. Finishing a crap beer will only make a great beer taste better .

I used to be like that, but it just isn't worth the calories or the displeasure. Besides, I have too much beer so dumping a shitty beer allows me to move on and open another.

In Lisbon, Portugal. Pale gold pour, veneer of a white head. Nose is malted grain.

Taste...not a lot. Light kilned malt, corn, less floral hops than there is vermouth in a dry martini, cardboard. Light mouthfeel. Finish is more of the same.

I have no qualms about dumping a beer. If I don't like it, it's gone. I think the last one I dumped because I didn't like it was a Bravus NA porter. If I start drinking one and decide not to finish it for whatever reason, I'll dump it unless it's a big stout that I can enjoy over several days. Then I'll recap it.

At 17%, I would have pinched
