    Nice yummy beer.
I had this many years ago, before I joined BA and am returning to it.

Drinking out of a small goblet.
Pours a clear reddish mahogany with a thin tan head.
Smells slightly boozy plus hints of spice.
    Nice smooth, slick mouth feel/
Malt forward. Sweet taste includes notes of molasses, coriander

    Three Floyds Pre Game Pilsner

16oz undated can poured into a tulip pint glass at fridge temp 5.2% ABV. The beer pours bright light golden amber with off white head. The head recedes to a fluffy ring and single layer of bubbles. The aroma is mild with cracker like malt and a hint of earthy hops. The taste is semidry pilsner malt with more mild earthy bittering balance. The feel is thin bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Cleanly lagered. Overall, this is the most "normal" beer I've had from 3F. Pretty spot on and drinkable German pilsner.

Was gifted this freshie by a friend.
Sadly, don't see much Southern Tier 'round here anymore, which sucks, as I loved their HopSun summer hoppy wheat beer.
(I brewed my own spin on it each year to have on tap for summer days poolside.)
But it's also bizarre, as they're not too far from here...
Anyway, was excited to crack this, although the big Alchemist stash in my fridge protests that it's not getting any younger! (sorry, Mr Kimmich!)
So, out here in the Doom Saloon, giving the new Frozen Soul album second listen. (It's absolutely and beautifully crushing:heavymetal::skull:)
The table seen in 2nd pic was purchased by my late father in law out on LI in an old seaside nautical shop. There's an etching of a Grand Banks fishing boat. It goes nicely out here in the DS, with the metal and pirate motif.
The silver device is a cool bottle cap remover my wife gifted me years ago. You just press it down on a bottle cap and. 'Pop'... when you release, the cap comes off and sticks to the magnetic end.
The coaster is one of many custom coasters I've designed over the years. Each features a memorable person or scene from the DS gatherings. This one features my cousin and the late great @cavedave.
    And, of course....pretzels.
BTW, beer is very good, just letting to adjust to optimal temperature...so will post review later.
    Meanwhile , Frozen Soul ended.
It's NBW, or, out here, also New Music Wknd, so spinning the new Fortress "Death is your Master." Metal, with a throwback 80s LA metal sound, including some heavy early Yngwie vibes
    Cheers, BA!

Purchased the Deschutes IPA variety pack, Tropical Fresh 6.5%, canned 2/23/26.
Pours a foggy yellow, short lived head. Terrific aroma, smell like the Doles fruit juice I drink in the am, Mango and pineapple, flavors are the same, not so good in a beer. Feel thick, abit sweet. I guess this'll be a 3'n done.
Random Thought: I don't see why these juicy/hazy/fruity beers are IPA's, my $.02.
    Call it a 3.33.....

So Garth and I went to Bridgman today for Buckley day at Transient and had several new BA stouts (it was Buckley Day after all) and Garth tried Cromulent, the first non stout beer he tried from them.
But I’m not going to write about anything from them (their 5 oz pour is maybe a little short)
I’ll review those ones when I drink the bottles.

No, this one is a beer from the brewery across the street - Lake Time Brewing. They occupy the same place Tapestry Brewing left.

Unfortunately I neglected to take a photo until I was about finished with it, but I did get a picture.

The owner of the brewery (Mike) told us it was a Belgian style IPA, and with the presence of clove and a bit of Midwest hops bitterness, I couldn’t disagree.
The feel is full yet clean, not quite crisp and very easy quaffing.
OA, a very nice beer from a new brewery across the street from Transient.

Not sure if I’ll be back for another, yet I bought one specifically for today so fingers crossed.

    Cheers!

Clear, golden pour and body; dense, vibrant carbonation; thick, lasting head, white, densely sudsy, rolling sculpted cap. Very pleasant soft sweetness with pome fruit esters on the nose; floral notes; a suggestion of honey. Sweet, cereal grain flavor; little perceptible hop bitterness until the very end and, even then, it is pretty mild; vague peppery sensation at the finish. Smooth, slick mouthfeel; slippery.

A great looking and fine smelling beer that tastes good. I'd look at this as being a fine example of a grainy American adjunct lager. While not outstanding, this beer would be a welcome addition for anyone looking for an easy drinking, no nonsense beer.

Yup, my favorite brewery on earth, hope you enjoyed it; small world. They’re a music loving brewery and one of their labels may have prompted one of my first DMs with @cavedave, no longer brewed anymore but it was a play on Workingmans Dead album cover.

    Chuckanut Euro Strong Lager

Pint enjoyed on draft at The Beermongers in Portland, OR while not enjoying the first half of the Inter Miami-Timbers match very much.

Deep yellow-gold body with exceptional clarity. Low head retention and minimal lacing. The nose is rich with toasty, bready malt and prominent floral hops. The flavor has everything the nose promised, and more. Gorgeous malt depth. Gorgeous. Moderately sweet and balanced with assertive, spicy hops with a slight minty character. Finishes clean and malty with lingering low-key bitterness. Medium-full body with creamy texture and bracing bitterness, illuminated by a mild alcohol warmth. Delightful.

That's awesome. As a music guy, I can appreciate when a brewery has a music -oriented beer repertoire, as well as music vibe at brewery.
Which location is your go-to? And who is the 'metal guy' - you or another NJ BA?

The metal guy is @Giovannilucano I’m the Phish guy, as are the fine people of Tonewood  I almost exclusively go to drink at Oaklyn the original location that still feels like home and they usually have cask English ale on.

If I’m just picking up beer to go or strapped on time I go to Barrington the production facility as it’s a tad closer for me to get to.

Very surprised by this offering from Sam Smith...

Found it to be beautifully colored - it was very appealing to to my eyes, and smell deliciously sweet. Mouthfeel was light, crisp, and well carbonated. The taste was tangy, and though I found it a tad (no pun intended) detracting - it was still flavorful. Of all the Sam Smith's I've had to date, this might be my favorite one.

Have a good Sunday night. I slept in late after going to sleep at 4AM. We watched Where to Invade Next last night which is a hilarious satire documentary from Michael Moore that is basically all about how social welfare across the Atlantic is amazing 10/10. A man can dream, it would be amazing to live over there. I'll just be a worthless person no one will hire in America unfortunately, I'll keep upping my skill set. Finishing up The Life of Greece by Will Durant: 4/5 Still a great book. The second half was more focused on philosophy, math, and science discoveries that were in the later years BC. I need to find another book for a more modern view on Greece, it only goes up to 146 BC. Also many of its specific archaeological and historical details—especially regarding the Bronze Age and the Homeric epics—are considered outdated due to major discoveries that occurred after its 1939 publication.

I had to put a bunch of books back on hold. I have decided to read Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi: It's a 1985 true-crime book detailing the life of mobster Henry Hill, from his childhood fascination with the Mafia to his eventual turn as an FBI informant, and was the basis for Martin Scorsese's film GoodFellas. I'm sure this will be amazing.

Modern Times Chaos Grid - Joy Edition. Got this from @BeerBaron666 in 2022. Canned 10/06/2021. Poor head retention and minimal lacing as expected of 13.6%. A lot of streaming carbonation on the glass. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, almond, coconut, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light smoke/charcoal/yeast earth. Increasing booze in the aromas as it warms. Taste follows with big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, fudge, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, almond, coconut, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light smoke/charcoal/yeast earth. Mild herbal/roasted bitterness, and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy/silky/velvety malt mouthfeel, with light lingering bourbon/oak tannin dryness after the finish. No cloying, acrid, astringent flavors. Mild increasing warmth and barrel booze after the finish. Very smooth sipper. Amazing rich dessert malt complexity and balanced barrel/flavor integration all around. 4/4.25/4.5/4.5/4.5: 4.41/5

Been a fan of FS since they first came onto the scene. Great band, and super cool people. We've seen em a bunch and they always hang after killing it on stage.

Cross post from the Bock Beers thread. I do appreciate a good smoked beer, and I've got one right here:

Oregon City Pipe Dream Smoked Bock

Pint enjoyed on draft at The Beermongers in Portland, OR, while not enjoying the end of today's Inter Miami-Timbers match.

Bright, clear copper-red body with a tenacious cap of ivory foam. The semi-sweet nose is laden with toasty malt and a gratifying amount of soft smoke. The flavor is a little more malty sweet than I'd expected from the nose, but it has tempting notes of bread crust, brown sugar, bacon, and umami. It also has more clean smoke than the nose offered. A nice bonus. Finishes with smoke and floral hops. Really nice mouthfeel, heavier than expected with silky texture and crisp carbonation. Very nice beer. Cheers to anyone who ever had a pipe dream...
