Haven’t been yet to NOLA. Being honest, the south is a large area and place, and could interest me.

Friend of mine in the suburbs of Atlanta jokes that you wanna come here? To do what? "Here’s a giant parking lot, our local Walmart, Publix, enjoy your stay."

I know he’s being snarky and cheeky, but Georgia has some good breweries and close neighbors to Florida as well.

My time may come and visit someday. You’re a wanker? Always liked that word, @bambiere so go ahead and narrates your beer vacay stories.

That's super cool. I'm sure you have some stories.

It was really nice. We got there early and the room filled up as the night went on. Between the view, the food, and the surroundings, it couldn't have been a more lovely evening.

Truth be told, I wasn't taken with New Orleans at first. It's always been my wife's jam. As I put in my time, however, I'm getting to like it a LOT. I mean, history, food, and drink . . . how could I not?

There's some pretty cool stuff to get into in Georgia. Not really from a brewery standpoint, in my opinion, but there are a lot of fantastic beer bars. Don't get me wrong, there are some great breweries, too, but if I was going to visit The South to visit breweries I wouldn't bother with Georgia or Florida. I'd go straight to Asheville. Just my $0.02

I’ve had to travel quite a bit recently. Aside from occasional posts in the daily drinker or west coast forums, I don’t do much reporting. But the intent is there! (And I have the pics of my most recent rental to show for it.) So, yes, maybe a dedicated trip report forum would get me motivated.

Yeah, it's been a chore getting folks to do place reviews for a long time. Maybe something along these lines would be the nudge to get some to write up some place reviews?

My serious response is as follows: If you think you have something worth sharing, do it. I'm sure a lot of users would enjoy it, especially those who might have considered visiting that area. Cheers, sir!

I love reading about and seeing photos of beer vacations from BA members. I enjoy the photos of the area landscape and motel shots brewery shots and food pics while on vacation.

I’d be interested, assuming the focus is on the breweries and the beer

That's the problem in my case. The wife and I travel quite a bit, but usually beer related escapades are peripheral or ancillary. So really not much to post about them on BA.

Not that I haven't been on a vacation that isn't beer-centric, but that's how I plan all of my vacations these days. Pick what I want to see beer-wise and then fill in the rest from there. They're not all about beer, but beer is almost always a significant focus. My wife, surprisingly, doesn't seem to mind. In fact, she always laughs at how many breweries she's been to when we're at the beer store.

Isn't that beer and place reviews?

I like the idea of a subforum that's basically "I went here to do these things, here are cool beer spots you can also check out." Different threads for different places.

I've had a few: San Diego and Idyllwild (ex's cousin's wedding, the zoo, my first time fishing in the Pacific, Joshua Tree, hiking), Vermont (working vacation visiting cheesemakers, Leahy aquarium, hiking), Cleveland (solar eclipse, aquarium), and Osaka (visiting my sister and her family, lots of touristy site-seeing, food, and also the aquarium). And all the trips back to Grand Rapids to visit the ex's family, which usually included the zoo and/or fishing.

If your city doesn't have a zoo or aquarium, or at least an arboretum or natural history museum, I'm not interested.

Anytime someone comes in to the NW forum for advice, we ask them to report back. Seeing a familiar landscape through someone else’s eyes is always interesting.

I'm confused by this. Are you saying saying cities that don't have any of these 4 attractions shouldn't be destinations for beer -related places and receive reviews for any of them? That doesn't seem like anything that you'd promote.

So that leaves the suggestion that any post of a 'beery' trip report should include some summary commentary in the report about these kinds of places, presuming a visit is made to them?

    Or what?

I'm just saying that I'm not interested in a location that doesn't have something along those lines, and I'm definitely not interested in going someplace where beer is the only attraction.

Let us know what else there is to do somewhere. I can drink beer at home. It won't be the same as the beer there, but still.

What cool museums did you see? Were there any breathtaking landscapes or geological sites? What are the historic sites like? Things along those lines are what I want to plan a vacation around, then fill me in with any cool beer spots you found in the evening.

I can't say that I'd fancy an "all beer" vacation here in the US. Belgium and Germany would be a different story, as the breweries and the surroundings would be more than enough to keep my attention.

I'd still need something else to break up the day.

Luckily, there seems to be plenty of those sorts of things to do in Europe.

I just can't imagine traveling for hours just to bar crawl. A bar crawl is definitely in order on a vacation, but what am I spending my days doing? What in the area is worth my daytime and what isn't?

Interesting and valid question. I do enjoy seeing the trip pictures and stories and beer reviews.
Must admit that I have a great architectural interest, especially the unique things in different places. So please post those too!
