    Good morning from Helsinki, Finland!

Kicking off the day with a Musta Vyö Karaokessa (5,2% Black Lager) from Panimoyhtiö Tuju in Lappeenranta. One of my favorite Finnish breweries. Beer name translates to "Black Belt in Karaoke."

About to watch Avatar: Fire and Ash with my kid.

    Have a great Saturday, everyone!

Hello Todd and have a great Saturday! The rest of you too. Looking to be balmy and near 90F temps with a clear sky and full sun.

    Lagunitas IPA in these parts.

    Cheers!

And a happy Saturday to you Todd, and Shanex too!
I"m having Queens & Sons from Kings & Daughters Brewing in Oregon, which I first drank a couple years ago and still seems to agree pleasurably with my tasting notes.

They call this a "Soft India Pale Ale" but it amounts to either a murky Pale Ale or a lower-ABV hazy IPA. The mouthfeel is certainly soft and slippery with a creamy carbonation. Flavor is citrus peel, but in moderation. Astringent finish with a bark and brambles aftertaste. Whatever they do to create the wonderful carbonation that is like biting marshmallows, I wish they would try with some other beer styles.

The beast. The beer. The legend. After the workday grind, reconnect with your wild side through our untamed barleywine-style ale. This classic lives up to its namesake: massive malt body, sheer hop intensity, standing at 9.6% ABV.

Looks like it’s gonna be a toaster here too today. Cooling off with a citrus-infused macro lager that’s a bit too sweet but still pretty refreshing.

Good morning and afternoon, fellow BAs!

I do not have a brew in front of me at the moment, but I will later today. I do not drink in the morning. I know, a metal dude with restraint?

I wish everyone a fantastic Saturday and a restful, relaxing day.

@SawDog505 Speaking of the World Cup, it is finally coming to Philadelphia, and of course Italy does not even qualify for the tournament. Such a bummer.

Have a banger beer packing only 4.0% ABV. Citra and Simcoe the hops, typical Spiteful IPA, reminds me a lot of the Simcoe brewed Alley Time Pale Ale. Full New Beer Weekend #305 take linked here, full beer review linked below.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Todd for opening the bar - good to see you participating!

It's 50F and raining here, so a typical summer day on the tundra of NW PA - guess I'll not get anything done outside this weekend.

Fortunately, I've got a good New Breakfast Beer, one I haven't had in a couple of decades, well before I joined BA:

Pliny the Younger (2026) from Russian River Brewing. 17.25 fl oz bottle, received 18/05/26, in a ninja strike from @2beerdogs. Stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 23/05/26, review 3733.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Uncredited label art. Very aggressive but pleasing flavor combination – distinctly an IPA.
    Rating 4.33, rDev -7.7%

@2beerdogs - Many thanks for sending me this Icon - I'll probably never get out to the west coast again. I'm in the school of "PtY is a technically better beer, but Big Chicken is more aligned with my tastes". Thanks again!

PS - seems like a good day the watch "Das Boot" again!

    Cask pale ale.

Apparently we missed the annual duck rase that is held on the steam behind, by a week. Would have been something different to see.

@Giantspace, I didn't see your post until this morning and it's too late to reply to yesterday's thread. No, I have never seen Hop Drop 'N Roll in New Jersey. I'm in NC's Research Triangle for a couple of days and bought it here. Cheers!

I took the train to the little town of Hatvan to see more of the countryside and to visit a brewery in a new-to-me region of Hungary. Hatvany Serfőzde has just 3 beers: light lager, dark lager, and wheat — very much in the German/Czech/Slovak model. The light lager is damn good too!
