Lovely day to sit under the deck, have a Phase Three Oat Lager, read a book, and enjoy the freedom that came at a terrible cost.

 

We drove home from Chapel Hill in just under 8 hours. Not quite a record time but close. I’ve unpacked my cooler into the beer fridge - less one can of Pernicious. Next job is to retrieve Chambo from the doggie resort and give her a bath. Cheers!

I haven’t had one of these in years, not too bad.
My nephew tells me the flavor is slightly different now that it’s brewed in the US.

 

Samuel Smith Oak Barrel Aged Yorkshire Stingo English Strong Ale, 8% ABV. Pours deep red, with a three-finger foamy beige head that settled into a foam cup. Aroma is light fruit, toffee, and malt. Taste follows, plus butterscotch, slightly sweet, moderately bitter oak. Dry mouthfeel, slightly over-carbonated. Overall excellent.

Happy Memorial Day! Shoutout to @Victory_Sabre1973 for kicking it off! Just finished my assigned holiday weekend chores and chillaxing on the deck with a Lagunitas “Hop Stoopid” reflecting upon those who gave all!

 

Happy Memorial Day ba. A somber day for sure. Into it w/ a Summerfest lager. 4/6/26,

Michael Murphy one of many local war heros. A navy seal who died fighting the taliban savages in Afghanistan-2005. His memorial park is a few minutes away from me on the banks of Lake Ronkonkoma.

 

Three Fires stout aged 2 years in Laws and Family Jones barrels. A fine and fitting beer for their 12 year weekend bash. Cheers!

The yearly display at Lowe's honoring our fallen warriors. Much respect.
