Hopothecary Ales Second Opinion ..



Stuffed peppers were really good, but much spicier than I anticipated. I added 5 chopped up Zapotec jalapenos from my last year's crop and I forgot just how hot they were. Much hotter than the average jalapeno, they definitely brought the burn!



Country royalty here - daughter of June Carter and Johnny Cash ..

 

The fact that every other beer store in NYC has cans of Heady Topper is both good and bad news for me.

 

It feels like the first day of summer here in Northern Indiana, so going two-fisted with this iconic beer seems appropriate. It is definitely hitting the spot.

 

This stuff will get the afternoon spinning fast.

 

1) Heilemans Old Style (4.64%): An American Adjunct Lager with flavors of pale malts, adjuncts, grains.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Dorothy’s New World Lager (5.5): An American Lager with flavors of pale malts, grains, faint lemon notes. (Mismatched the two blind)

American Lager battle. Going to see if I can tell the difference between these two. First is Old Style. Smooth, clean, mild cereal flavor.
Next is Toppling Goliath's American Lager. Similar, nearly no aroma. Similar on the flavor. Maybe slightly more lemon. I couldn't tell them apart blind. Then again, I can't taste much of anything with my sinuses being blocked up. I'd flip a coin on these two.
