Drinking Tripel Karmeliet straight from the can in this lovely garden here in Normandy after three solid hours on the road. Close to Cabourg:



Earlier today, because of course we dragged the little boy with us. His grandparents love him but aren’t ready yet to nurse him for a whole week.

Pours a mildly cloudy, pinkish red hue; steady, robust carbonation; fine, long-lasting head with a delicately pink hue, dense and creamy texture. Pleasant wild ale nose; sense of wheat and wild berries; a touch of classic farmhouse ale funk. Subdued fruit-forward flavor backed atop a wheat and biscuit-like malt backbone; traces of raspberry and blueberry; pink grapefruit; rosé wine tones wrap things together. Medium body; soft and velvety; very slight tannin dryness offsets the fruity juiciness.

This deeply complex barrel aged fruit ale is a pure delight to quaff. Its many production elements, from ingredients to barrel aging and blending, meld and play nicely together.

...I've been to the NOJAHF (back in the early 90s), and Mrs. BeerGoot and I were in NO this past late April (but we didn't attend the fest...I've seen LF once in Hershey, PA (post-Lowell George - Fred Tackett and Shaun Murphy were in the band - 1993?)...this set from the YouTube show below with the exception of 'When New Orleans Cries' (on the video but not the CD) is the same set and song order (but definitely a different show) ...
