Back in my place, and I need a something a bit stronger.I've had it before, but didn't review it. Not NBW worthy.

Nice bit of smoke upon opening the bottle. Well, I guess this looks like motor oil. Very thick pouring and pitch black in color. There's a nice 2 finger brown head that lasts a long time considering it's a 14% beer. No lacing on the glass. All that's left is a ring around the edge of the glass.
The nose has a nice mix of tart cherries in it as well as the notes of the base beer. I am getting some cardboard notes from the age which don't mesh as well.
The flavor starts out not so pleasing with a aged wet cardboard flavor hitting my taste buds right away. Thankfully, this flavor doesn't last long. The next flavor to hit is a nice tart cherry flavor that is very pleasing, and this flavor lingers in my throat. The base beer comes in to shine on the finish with nice chocolate, coffee, caramel, and vanilla notes with a slightly woody character.
The body is nice and thick, as I would expect. It coats my throat with beer goodness. There's a super faint burn that also hits, but you know you should go slow with such a strong beer.
This beer I know was better with a bit less age on it, but it is still solid as heck.

 

Hello BAs! Sadly, Mr. Coyote got to the duck eggs overnight in one of our garden beds and ate them all except maybe 1. Poor mama duck. Nature is both beautiful and cruel. Kinda like a hangover. I'll have a beer and focus on the good stuff...like new & review a brew! Cheers!

Howdy all. Been off the beer for a few days as I've been sick. Thought I might give one a go today as I'm feeling somewhat better. Kutná Hora Zlatá 12 Czech pilsner. It's OK, but I won't finish it, given that I'm probably not 100% yet.

And I gotta tell you: spending Fri-Sat-Sun of one of your few weekends in Europe sick and alone in your AirBnB pretty much sucks.
