Was, for some reason, thinking about workers getting paid in beer. I know that it can be a perk of working in the industry, but outside of it there's a pretty neat historical precedent of workers getting paid in beer. Not that I'm suggesting that anyone should get a portion of their paycheck converted directly to beer (or salt) by their employers, but it made me reflect on just how much of mine goes to beer.

Some interesting reading, to make this thread, you know, more scientific-y:

5,000-year-old pay stub shows that ancient workers were paid in beer - Ars Technica

Even with my wife drinking her fair share I'm well under $50...although that's just for packaged beers. Most restaurants charge $6-8 per pour, so that can add up quickly.

Although it varies as to the time of year and week to week, right now I only drink one day a week, so I figure about $20 for packaged beer and about $25 for pints at the pub.

I voted $50-100/week, sometimes more or less though

There are definitely weeks when I spend more than $50. Sometimes A LOT more. Like when I'm visiting a different city and/or going beer shopping somewhere other than home, but it all evens out in the end, IMO.

I was told by a fellow BA once to never do the maths.

Less than 50 bucks no doubt or Euros.

An odd beer a day, near everyday and probably not a double digit price.

What is a typical price per bottle/can of the beers you typically purchase? Do you purchase singles or do you typically purchase packs (e.g., six-packs)?

    Cheers!

Half of the beers I buy are only sold as singles, and generally between $10 and $20 each. If they do come in packs, they're generally $25 to $30 for a four-pack. About 90% of my cellar is BA.

Last calendar week was over $300, but that included a day or two that had a non-weekend day off.

It's not uncommon though to go well over $100 for one weekend day.

Bear in mind I also do tip very well at places I typically frequent. And MA is one of the most expensive states in the country, especially Greater Boston area where I live.

Both interesting questions especially the second one.

-About 2-3€ (330ml format) anything Belgians or the few English, German or American beers I’m still able to find in supermarkets. Beer stores will have "special” ones for twice that price, sometimes not worth it.

-Packs is a no go for me. I used to a lot, younger and partying more. I could white lie about it but my thought was to frequently so near daily go to the grocery for a beer or two run. Having a six pack in my place could lead to it not surviving the night. TBH, I don’t handle alcohol as much as I used to so even then I’d be done after probably three medium ABV beers for an evening.
