Heady Topper Dating Question

    Hello BAs,

    I have been on here for quite some time, but this is actually my first post. I feel that I know some of you just by reading your posts.

    Anyhow, I just received a 4 pack of Heady Topper but can't find a canning date. Do they date their cans? I just want to make sure that I am drinking it fresh before I start making comparisons to other beers. I emailed the brewery, but I figured that someone here would know.

    On the bottom right corner under all the text is a small code. From what I can figure out with a couple cans I have from 2 different batches the first number is the month and the second number is the date the beer was canned. My can says 2 02 11 B2BB. I'm confident the 2 is February, but I'm not sure if the 02 or the 11 is the canning date.

    there is no freshness date. the code you're seeing is the actual can code from ball, the manufacturer of the can. just ask the trader when they picked up the beer at the alchemist. they sell out weekly, so there is never lingering inventory.

    Have not tried heady topper, but from what I've heard about this beer you should date anyone who drinks it.

    I don't think there is any Heady Topper more than a month old in the world. People buy it and drink it before they get home...

    just got my first 4-pack in a trade and was worried when I saw the code thinking it was an old batch. thanks, Google. now to finally enjoy this fantastic brew.

    Who else came in here initially thinking the OP's question had something to do with dating someone? I was waiting to see something like..."she ordered a Coors Lite and I ordered a Heady Topper and our first date went sour from there". :grinning:

    I could forgive her for the Coors Light if she ordered the Cantillon (as unhappy as my wallet would be).
