Hosting a potluck tonight for a guest speaker that gave a lecture in our department today (the presentation was on climate justice and indigenous identity in Bolivia, for anyone that's interested), so there's a sixer of Ruthless Rye in my fridge that I'm pretty excited about. Never had it before!

Flower Power! and Terrapin 10th Anniversary glass w/ Leonard Euler and his equation.

Gentlemen, that is surely true, it is absolutely paradoxical; we cannot understand it, and we don't know what it means. But we have proved it, and therefore we know it must be the truth.

    Finally....

first impressions: bizarre. There's a weird taste in here, and I don't necessarily dislike it, but it's stumping me. Almost a little salty on the finish? But very bitter too. A very interesting beer!

Later tonight: bourbon barrel barleywine from CW. A night of firsts!

Much of the initial alcohol burn is gone, I think it is delicious, love the molasses and licorice. Glad I bought a case and kept it cellared.

Stellar. Must have moar. Nothing beats a solid single IPA in my books. Brings me back to what got me into craft, and that is IPA's.

I set the Growler aside and am opening a home brew Honey Porter that the beer guy at Liquor Shed gave me.

It hissed when I popped the cap.
It pours a pitch black, 2 finger head of foam, outstanding lacing.
It has a honey sweetness, roasty thing going, slight hint of oxidation in the smell.
Some roasted malt and honey in the taste with a hint of oxidation...very light tartness. Not bad, and I'll let him know; heck he said he was newish at home brewing. I give him a thumbs up for the effort as it's not close to being a drain pour. Got another bottle of it in the fridge.

Three Philosophers Quad. I guess I've been holding on to this one for awhile with old label and 2011 date.
